Healadin needing help focusing.Follow

#1 Jan 29 2008 at 7:14 AM Rating: Decent
I just want to start this out with a thank you for your time.

I am a level 70 Holy 800+ healing looking for some direction. I have mask of penance and chest piece of many graces to start my journey out. But I am finding that getting up to 1200 is becoming a slow dreadful process. Is there any way to get 1200 + healing without running instances. There are a lot of people on my server but it seems like theres an over abundance of healers so finding a group is nigh impossible at most times that I have available. I just really need some direction because I rolled a lock got him to 46 so far but I really would like to get geared up for kara.

Twisting Nether - Ramux

BTW I have read the faqs I may have skipped over something or may have been added so please don't pyroblast me :D.

[EDITS]
Armory http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Twisting+Nether&n=Ramux

I have had some advice from a few here say tons of normal runs then head off into heroics. If any of you wouldn't mind taking a look at my gear and suggesting some better items that may or may not be far off to get i'd love to hear it.

Working on lower city prayer book for trinket. damn i hate tuesdays when i get them off and wow is offline

You want to be a Healadin, but you don't want to run instances?

So, you PvP then? You can't be looking to raid if you don't want to run instances, which are the basics of group dynamics, teamwork, and experience for end game.

EDIT: Sorry. But you really need to run instances before you run Kara. That's where you get your PvE gear to be able to do Kara. Season/PvP gear might work at the beginning, but will never be as effective as PvE gear when it comes to raiding.

Didn't mean to make it sound like I DONT want to run instances. I DO but the problem is theres a lot of down time in between groups. Im having trouble finding groups to join so im trying to find an alternative so that I may get some healing gear in a timely fashion.

Most of your gear is going to come from instances and quests, some pvp pieces will work but it's all about doing alot of normals and then Heroics. Then getting badge gear. There is a few craftable items, but really not too much. The downtime sucks, but you'll be glad you have it when you hit the point you are raiding t5/6 content and don't have any.

Alright so my focus is going to be normals to heroics/badges. I didn't know if there was a way around it thats why I was asking. This is my first 70 so trying to grind mats for getting enchants is kinda slow.

Would anyone mind taking a look at my character sheet and reccomending some upgrades.

I know I need trinkets for sure im working on rep for the lower city prayer book.

Instances are definately your best bet. As said, you can do PvP for season 1, or whatever, but it won't help on the longer fights like Prince, Moroes, etc.

Well this is stuff you could have looked up with a little effort but I’m kinda bored so I figured what the hell…

First enchants:
Weapon +81 heal
Bracer +30 heal
Gloves +35 heal

Easy to obtain items:
Vindicator's Pendant of Salvation PVP Necklace (51+ heals, 6mp5) Costs: 10 EotS medals
Gladiators Ornamented PVP Gloves (+53 heal, 24 crit, 2% FoL crit) Costs: 20 AV medals
Starcaller's Plated Legguards (+88 heals, 17 crit, 7mp5) Quest: Dimensius the All-Devouring
Apexis Cloak (+57 healing) Requires Ogri'la - Revered
Oshu'gun Relic Trinket (+53 heals) Quest: Gava'xi
Lower City Prayerbook (+70 heals)

You’re currently at 793 healing
Get these items and you’ll be at 1224 healing

Got it! :D PVP gear not suitable for PVE.

THANKS everyone

I just didn't know if there was gear floating out there in places I don't know about. This is my first toon to reach outlands so when i don't know where to go i start to get bored and play my lock.

[edit]
I also read the faq im currently staring at it on another tab. I was looking for even just stuff before that. If you look most of my gear is straight from protection spec to whatever healing gear i could find.

I appreciate you linking all that here too though.

Some PVP gear is acceptable like the neck piece, gloves, rings, weapon, or if you lack crit...

1. You want to move away from spell damage gear (your shoulders, legs, hands, and feet) and get real healer apparel. If you main-heal any instance, you should have first pick of any BoP +healing gear that drops, regardless of armor type. Go for it, even if it's leather/mail. Also, your rings are both +spirit, which does almost nothing for you. Run just about any instance in Outland and something better is likely to drop. FYI, you apparently logged out with your PVP trinkets equipped, so we can't really comment on what you're using for PVE. An LC Prayer Book (or two!) would help.

2. Plate shoulders, hands, and feet seem to be among the weakest slots for a pally to improve through regular-difficulty dungeons. I'm reluctantly banking on PVP gear for these three slots since it seems to have the least-worst tradeoffs in terms of +healing/spellcrit and mp5. I strongly recommend the sticky for everything else.

3. Speaking of which, I think there's a bit of ambiguity in the comprehensive pre-Kara guide in that you're encouraged/directed to run Heroics to gear up for Kara, but if you aren't geared for Kara then you will not be able to heal for any Heroics either. /shrug PVP gear or mail/leather will have to suffice in the short run.

4. Yes, PVP neck and ring are highly recommended in the sticky so I didn't even think of those.

Sorry im a lil loony woke up early smoked a bowl and came here while im waiting for wow. I have already healed heroics with the gear im wearing. I don't know if that says im good or my allies were good but if you notice my shoulders are from heroic :D.

My wristbands were prot wrists before I took the pvp upgrade. I am trying to get rep for the lower city prayer book. thralmar rep for the head enchant and some pvp rings and ammy.

at least now I have some direction in my play. So now im focused and not just sitting there like wtf should i do and then switch players.

There's more PVP gear that's good for PVE. The Veteran's Kodohide gear, especially the belt, is worth looking at. They combine +heal with +mp5 in useful amounts and, as long as the tank's doing his job properly, the reduced armor compared to plate gear shouldn't matter.

+Healing is actually easy to get, just remember not to limit yourself to plate gear. When I first hit 70, my plate only healing set (for pvp) was +800 but my instance healing set with some very average non-plate quest items and AH purchases was over 1000.

Also, the s1 pvp healing mace (Gladiator's Salvation), with a +81 healing enchant, is +406 healing from one item (if i remember correctly). After getting that mace, I could have had about +1400 healing if I ignored other stats, but ignoring other stats is, as the sticky says, a no no.

The hard stats, for me, are +mp5 and crit. Having the s1 mace with all the +healing frees up a lot of slots for gear that adds mp5 and/or crit but may be leaner on +healing. The recommended pvp neck and ring have +mp5 and +healing.

+Crit gems are very useful if you have gemmable gear. Use whatever gems help your stats the most and ignore the bonuses for using the recommended colors. Most bonuses arent worth the cost of skipping the gems you need.

Bottom line, just be flexible. As the sticky says, its a balance of healing/mp5/crit/int that makes a good healing pally (statwise; just talking gear, folks).

I also understand how hard it is to find groups right now even as a healer. So many people (especially tanks) are either raiding or pvp'ing for epics that groups for non-heroics can be scarce. Then we you can get one, there's no guarantee it will be a good one, and the LFG goes on . . .

pvp gear is good enough for kara imo. I would prefer full PvP gear over 5 man blues.

If your faction does well in BGs its also pretty quick.

Not to sound like a public service announcement or anything, but if your habits reach the point where they impair your ability to play video games adequately, you might want to reconsider what impact they might be having on other aspects of your life ;-)
