New Horde Pally needs some infoFollow

#1 Jan 29 2008 at 12:28 AM Rating: Decent
Hello I'm fairly new to wow and I have played a few different characters and i have finally settled on a BE Pally. My questions are how blood elfs as pallys and are they decent tanks and or healers i mean i have seen alliance pallys tank and heal while watching my friend play and it seems they do a dam good job and are right up there with warriors on tanking and priest, druids on healing thought not quite as good. Another big question i have is are BE pallys even used in end game raids as tanks or heals? Any advice and information would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance and excuse my horrid writing.

Pallys are used endgame for healing and tanking, they are great for tanking adds and AoEing them down, they are also great single target healers.

Oh, and since the previous poster kind of skipped over it, race in WOW is really fairly inconsequential. Your racials differ slightly, but none of them really make that huge of a difference at endgame. And since blood elves are the only Horde race that can be pallys...you don't have a lot of options :p

Exactly right on race, it's not going to make a huge difference at all. It's like taking Improved Ghost Wolf as a Shaman, Improved Revive Pet as a Hunter, etc .. in that racials are more or less "fluff": nice to have, but not groundbreaking.

As far as what you'll be used for: most of the Horde Paladins I come across are Prot spec with about equal numbers of Ret and Holy for the rest of the population. I wouldn't take this as a "You will be tanking end game" statement, but that's just what I see on my realm at the times I play. Chances are good though that you'll have a place somewhere since Horde Paladins are still a relatively low population compared to Alliance Paladins.

I run into alot more Holy paladins, and well, a ton of Prots that are terrible lol. It seems that prot has had a huge jump in numbers lately, but really the Holy's should be outnumbering them, at least thats what I see. I see usually 1 prot per 25man raid, where as I've seen 2 or even 3 holy's present as well.

In end game raids you are always better off as a healer, it's always easier to get into a guild or a raid as one. After so long healers level alts or spec differently so replacements are needed. As far as prot goes, you generally don't need more than one in alot of cases. Paladins make great healers and tanks, it's a good class to be.

Edit: just to be clear, with the huge number of prots i've noticed lately... it's not that they are all terrible players... just extremely lazy in terms of knowing their class, how prot works, and gear.
