First, thanks to everyone that replied to my last post about tanking tips, they really helped a lot, I'm feeling pretty confident and I'm improving every time.

Now, I've been looking at druid tanking builds, I already specced feral, but I didn't know entirely what I was doing so I'm respeccing and fixing it.

I just have some quick questions. Every druid tanking build I see..doesn't have points put into improved mark of the wild. I thought it seemed extremely useful. Is it? Also, should I work towards a tanking spec that I'll probably end up using to and through end game? Or should I look more for a leveling/tanking spec?
I'm trying to run things as much as possible to gain tanking experience in preparation for Outlands, and at the rate I'm leveling I'm not sure I'll need a really good leveling spec.
opinions?
thanks!

This talent isn't as powerful as it sounds for ferals. +35% is worth 119 armor, +5 to all stats, and 9 resist, at the cost of 5 talent points which can be put to better use in Furor.

This talent is much better for Moonkins and Resto druids though.

Also, while you may think "119 armor, that's like 645 armor in bear form!" it's not...that isn't armor from items, thus doesn't generate the +400% and +10% buffs from bear form and talents.

Furor on the other hand allows you to powershift, where upon shifting you gain energy. Good for cats to get a bit of burst damage, or for bears to open up fights with 10 extra rage.

As far as a levelling spec, I've kept the same spec since level 10, and it's the spec I will raid with. Once my guild is on to ZA I *may* switch, but it's not likely.

EDIT: Another important thing to note is Imp Mark doesn't scale with gear. It's 5 stats no matter if you're a fresh 70 or if you are in full T6 or S3 gear. While 10 rage and 40 energy are both not scaling in-and-of-themselves, they do scale in what you can do with them (i.e. harder hits from claw/mangle or more TPS right away in bear form).

Sigh... Just a couple of things I hope they will change in WotLK. When will Blizzard realize that our buff, once regarded as the most powerful buff in WoW, is now the worst? I rather have Blessing of Kings that MotW... =(

Well I don't have raiding experience, but I'm still going to agree with this. The beauty of the feral tree is that it's our DPS and tanking spec (sorry boomkins, I mean one of our DPS specs), which means you don't need to level in one tree and then switch to another the way a tanking paladin or warrior might. Just another example of druidy goodness.

The only time a respec should be required is if you chose to put some points into Resto pre-50 for leveling (a perfectly valid choice, I did it). Then you'll need to respec at 50 for Mangle.

Another reason not to get it is that more than likely there'll be a resto druid in raids who can buff you with it.

In all fairness, BoK is the only buff that scales at all. It would be more fair to compare MotW to Fortitude, and they are roughly equal in terms of usefulness though your milage will vary depending on class.

Not entirely true...bosalv will scale too, because it allows you to do 42% more DPS without pulling aggro.

Also, if you count auras and debuffs (i.e. LotP, expose weakness) those scale too.
