Just carry a piece of paper with you and make a tally whenever you get combo points, much easier than using your head.

This can't be a serious question...
Incase it is, start wondering what those big red circles on your opponents portrait are

Actually when I started my rogue it took me like 5 levels at least to figure out what these weird red dots where to be honest. So if he really just started it's not that absurd to assume he genuinely does not know.

Red dots pop up near the mob's portrait indicating how many to an obvious maximum of five. Unless you accidentally switched it off yourself, this system should have been up automatically.

And, yeah, it's a real stupid question. But hey, everyone's a noob sometime. Next time go to the manual.

you are all clowns except for the original poster. It could be a 12 yr old, or a first time poster and new to the game, lets give him the hardest time possible shall we.

It took me a few levels to understand combo point generation but i suppose you cant get to level unless you were born knowing rogue class mechanics eh?

If it took you a few levels to understand combo point generation, you're slow.

You have to roll 3d6 + attack bonus. Then you move your character minature around the back of the little jello stack (DM's have you fighting a gelatinous flimbiflam see). Then roll 1d20 against your charisma to see if your target likes you enough to accept your combo points.

Someone on the O-boards once said they thought those red circles were "run away points," because mobs always ran away when she had 3-5 of them.

Actually, I designed the rogue class.

Just kidding. But I have a brain, ergo I can think proactively and figured out what combo points did.

Yo, Reading is hard.

Oh and that wasn't directed at the OP, from his other threads, it seems he genuinely was (I hope was) a new player to MMOs in general.
