Bear form, toughest to get?Follow

#1 Jan 25 2008 at 4:27 PM Rating: Good
Starting over with a NE Druid. Worked to level 10 and did the bear Spirit quest. Now to find the moonstone and defeat Lunaclaw. Can it be done solo at 10 (NOW 11) stopped at first Moonkin I saw, and got duo'ed quickly. One would be hard, level 12-13 I think. Any ideas?

Answer: No it's not the toughest form to get. It's not tough at all. Wait til aquatic form, that's a pain. Still not what I'd call "tough" but inconvenient and actually takes some thinking and journeying to get 'er done.

And I know I'll come across as a jerk here, but I kinda can't believe somebody with as much WoW experience as you have (per your sig) and high-level toons on the same server would have enough trouble with this quest that they'd need to seek out help in a forum. Solution 1: Get creative, solve the problem yourself. Solution 2: Ask a guildy or buddy or random toon in the area for help. Solution 3: Grind for an hour and go back adfter a level or two.

And since you apparently don't know this, when you have questions or problems with quests, you can get helpful info and tips from other players at Thotbott.

/agreed

But to the op, the cave you find luna in is the first one on the road out of auberdine, go around all the moonkin and kill the one outside the cave first. Then summon luna and root+moonfire (after you lead luna outside) I did this at level 10, you should have no problem.

I'm not going to say it is easy at 10 but is doable. if you are going to go through the camp, I have never tried Borzan's method, make sure you kill any wandering bears or cats first, then pull one moonkin at a time, it is possible to get one at a time. Natures grasp is a good talent to get first, so wrath, wrath, moonfire, melee and if you are getting into trouble natures grasp, pull back when roots take as they usually won't hold long and heal. Take your time, don't rush.

Also as JeeBar said, ask for help. Whenever I am in an area and not busy, someone asks for help with a class quest I will happily help, but usually only class quests.
Easiest Druid quest, horde bear, nothing to clear to get to the stone. :)

Forgot to mention, use your HoT's.

I've also had a tough time with this at level 10 but I've soloed it twice at that level. Make sure you get the coordinates for the correct cave so you aren't wasting time (deaths) on a billion moonkin you don't need. I don't think the ones outside the correct cave are higher than level 12 and you can tackle those one at a time. It's generally the adds that'll kill you. Kind of a goofy tip, but it also pays to try to do it at a busy time of day so some of them may already be dead. :) If you die, make sure you take at least one with you and get back before he respawns.

Lunaclaw himself isn't hard. Some people will advise trying to get out of the cave fast so you can root him, but I'd just pop a stamina scroll and one of those pots that gives you extra armor and go for it. Especially since, as you note, you're usually level 11 by the time you fight him.

Of course Horde, as usual, are a bunch of dirty cheaters and their bear quest is easier. :)

I just did it on my level 10 this past weekend. It's really easy and I didn't have a hard time taking down a moonkin that was 3 levels higher than me. Just healed, trapped them again and spammed wrath and moonfire. Not hard at all.

After soloing the NE version twice at level 10 I cried when I rolled by Horde druid and walked up to the stone with nothing in between.

Also a note to the OP, if you have a couple of buffs in your inventory, you can just run into the cave and die at the very back then rez, it's a really short run from the GY.

Thanks for all the help. I was not that bad, helps to pick the right cave, and take your time pulling anything around. Luna was easier then the Moonkin, but by then I was level 12. Still loving Druids and running around like a tank.

If you think the aquatic quest is bad as it is now - then you don't know what bad is. When I played my first druid we were 2 on the server who had completed our aquatic form quest - TWO!!!!

OK, you piqued my curiosity. You're implying that the quest got nerfed, right? (The fact that just two druids on your server had completed it could just mean you had lazy druids on your server...I still haven't done the Westfall part of the quest on my level 20 druid alt for example...) If so what was it that made the quest so much more of a PITA before? Maybe this should be an addition to Quor's history lesson. : )

I think he means that there was little to no information available as to where to go to / look for. I might be wrong though.

pretty sure the worst class quest is the warlock riding one. you mess up once in blasted lands, you die really quickly.

The biggest issue was the lack of information yeah.

The 2nd off topic but good question was about the aquatic quest, that it was easier now then it had been. I am sure that will be good info to find out more on.

The aquatic form is a pain mostly because the second half takes you off the coast of Westfall, but it's a straightforward pain, and it's easy as long as you:

A) Get coordinates for both pendant halves from thotbott.
B) Get a summon/port to SW for the part off the coast of Westfall.
C) Know that you can take breaths from the underwater bubbles.

It's even easier if you get an underwater breathing buff via 'lock or pot, but it's not necessary.

Since aquatic form is only situationally valuable, it's a "get it when it's convenient" thing for me...I'll get it on my 20 whenever I end up on that side of the world.

I will grant you that the horde bear form quest is easier, IF you know where you are going. If you don't then it's entirely possible that you will be stomped by some level 22 Thunder Lizard that you accidentally wandered too close to. Not that I know anybody that's happened too...

I use aquatic form *all* the time. I love it. Awesome for making some quick cash from fishing at any level (getting to nodes quickly), fighting murlocs that hang out far underwater, etc. Once in the Outland it's even better for hanging out at the bottom of the lake in Terokkar and farming eels. Nobody is ever down there and it's great for motes of water.
