You should stick with swords.

Use garotte for now.

When you get cheap shot, begin opening with that as it will cut down on the amount of damage mobs do to you and thereby lower your downtime.

When I was levelling my rogue opening with cheap shot, I could easily kill 8-10 same or -1 level mobs before having to eat/bandage.

Well, y'know, I'm workingon making a master macro that does everything but be consider a bot. I posted a few samples of it in Tyrandor's macro thread. This is the exact one from the thread:

/equip [combat] <your combat weapon here>; [nocombat, stealth] <your opener weapon here>
/cast [equipped: <your combat weapon here>] Sinister Strike; [equipped: <your opener weapon here>] Ambush

Just sift+left click the correct weapons in the "<>" space (without those marks of course). It should equip your sword and cast Sinister Strike if you are in combat and it should equip your dagger and cast Ambush (better opener you will get later) if you are in stealth and out of combat.

Pretty nifty macro if you ask me. You dont have to sacrifice awesome openers or higher base damage for your combat attacks. All you need to worry about now is keeping your weapons updated.

Untoucheable, it's a great macro.

However, as he levels up mobs will have higher and higher HP and eventually an ambush won't do nearly as large a % of the mobs health if he's not talented for it.

I still recommend opening with cheap shot once you get it as it will seriously decrease your downtime.

Ambush seems to work fine for me. Not the best option ill admit, but I am shadowstep build, level 68, and when I ambush, I normally end up fighting a foe at ~90% health in solo PvE.

I understand your view. Cheap Shot is a nice controlling opener. Im just an advocate of daggers and I defend them at every point possible.

Not working. This is exactaly what I've been trying to accomplish. However, the macro swaps the weapons correctly, but does not /cast any attacks. Here is exactally what I have:

/equip [combat] Blackwater Cutlass; [nocombat, stealth] Kris
/cast [equipped: Kris] Ambush(Rank 1); [equipped: Blackwater Cutlass] Sinister Strike

In my very limited knowledge of computer languages this is what I understand this macro to be accomplishing:

1. Equip specific sword weapon if in combat or specific dagger if not in combat AND stealthed.
2. Cast Ambush(Rank 1) IF the dagger is equipped OR Sinister Strike IF the sword is equipped.

Is this correct?

Is this macro working for anyone else? Any suggestions to make this work?

Of course it does ok for you, you're talented for it. At least I hope as sub daggers you are.

Me again...been playing with the macro a bit and I think I found what works. Instead of having wow check for the weapon equipped to determine what to cast I have it check the combat status again. Here's what it looks like:

/equip [combat] Blackwater Cutlass; [nocombat, stealth] Kris
/cast [nocombat, stealth] Ambush(Rank 1); [combat] Sinister Strike

There is still one problem. After going into stealth, sneeking behind someone and hitting the macro button it switches my blade to the dagger and then gives me a notice saying "You must have a Dagger equipped to use that..." (or something like that). So what is happening? It's like it tries to cast Ambush before the dagger swaps.

Can someone help decipher this one? Any suggestions?

Just trying to help make WoW better for the serious player.

Leave the (Rank 1) off the end of your ambush and it will always use the highest rank of Ambush you have learned.

I cant keep the message from popping up besides suggesting an anti-spam addon, (SpamBlocker should work). The button is designed to be spammed at all times (in and out of stealth).

When you first click it, you have your sword equipped, right?

The game tries to execute the whole statement at the same time, and if you have a sword equipped when you click it, it will try to cast ambush while you have the sword equipped. Pressing the button a second time after giving the message should do the trick.
