+specs, spirit vs intellect vs stam vs agility vs strengthFollow

Hello all. This is my first post and I am a lv 16 Human Lock. My professions are Herb and Alch. My play style is Solo Questing with little grind. I send in my VW and attack from a distance. My build is currently all Affl. I will continue Affl. until level 41 then go to Dest. or Dem. Anyway, when buying gear at the auction or from drops what should I look for when it comes to +Stm, +Int, +Spt, +Agl, +Stg? I know strength is not one to worry about being a Lock, but the others I'm not real sure about the effect of each for my potential build and play style. My critical hit seems to be low as well on my range and cast. Is there a way to increase my critical hit with the above in mind. I will probably get blasted on this one, but I hope someone will help. Thanks in advance to those who do.

Str, Agility and Spirit are completely worthless when building a warlock.

You SHOULD never be meleeing, so will not benefit from Agi or Str at all, and While Spi is a caster stat, thats not the case for warlocks, since when they need mana they drain it or do the lifetap/drainlife tactic.

When leveling you should focus on Spell damage, stamina, int, and spellcrit, in that order(AFAIK, someone with more experience may tell otherwise). Though, it will be pretty hard to find Spell damage untill mid 30's+, so untill then, focus on stam and int, "- of the Eagle" gear will do, and then tailoring blues and instance gear will be the best.

+Spell damage/Shadow damage > +Spell hit > +Spell Crit > +Stamina > +Intellect > +Spirit > +Agi/+Str

As you level, focus on Stamina and Intellect. Get +spell damage or +shadow damage when you can, but don't neglect Stamina. For other spellcasters, Intellect is more important than Stamina, but since warlocks can turn health into mana via Life Tap, Stamina is favored. +Spell damage stuff won't show up for a while, and it's really not worth going out of your way for, since most of the Outlands quest rewards have a pretty good amount of +spell damage. Once you get into the Outlands content, +spell damage will become more important than Stamina, but until then, focus on Stamina.

Spirit isn't exactly worthless, but isn't worth going out of your way for. Spirit makes you regen more mana when not casting, but, as previously noted, Life Tap and Drain Life makes that kind of unnecessary.

If you switch to Destruction, you'll want to keep an eye out for +spell crit gear, as Destro relies on big crits. Affliction and Demonology aren't really different in gear choices; your pet's attack power scales with your spell damage, and their stamina/intellect with yours, respectively. Agility and Strength have absolutely NO value to you.

The best way to boost spell crits is with gear that has +spell crit rating on it, but that won't really show up until the higher levels. Intellect WILL boost your spell crit, but the ratio is horrible and isn't really worth it.

Your post was well-worded, you didn't use a lot of "1337-speak" or AIM shorthand, and you were polite. Keep it up, and you won't get blasted. :)

You're welcome. :)

For leveling, aim for "of the eagle" gear so you have good stam. and int. which help a lot with leveling. if you want to boost your crit, get intellect, but as Rykhorne said,

Rate up for one of the best worded, constructive criticisms I've ever seen on the forums.
