Enjoyable alts for a hunterFollow

#1 Jan 25 2008 at 11:08 AM Rating: Good
Let me start off be saying I hate leveling =( But I want more 70s!!

I have a druid and rogue alt, and I feel bored of them. I'm not getting the feel out of them like I did playing a hunter, so I almost give up on them. I'm kind of willing to level my druid, because I think what I want to do is tank, but I'm stuck at 41 cuz badland ans SoS are BORING places >_>

My question to you all is, what other classes do you play that give you a thrill that can say "Man, this is almost as fun as playing my hunter!!"

I don't know what it is but almost every hunter I know has a druid alt...
And every other hunter I know has a Shaman alt...

I have both...

Start one of each class. Play each to level 20 then decide.

Go with a lock. Since you are used to controlling a pet, levelling a lock can be fun.

I have a level 60 plus of every class save mage and shaman, which I have a level 40 and 35 respectively. For my own personal taste I’ve enjoyed playing my feral druid the most. I think I like my druid so much because, like my hunters, he has high survivability and no down time. Adding a bit of rogue stealth into the mix doesn’t hurt either.

If you can’t find any other class alts you like you can do what I’ve also done and create multiple hunters, with multiple professions and different pets. Thus far I have just a few hunters: 70x2, 69, 67, 62, 45, 44, 40x3. Four of those are bank alts, but I still enjoyed leveling them up. I don’t really expect anyone else to play so many characters of the same class, but it’s available for anyone crazy enough to want to do it.

Dunno about all hunters, but for this Hunter, I've enjoyed playing Warlock, mage, Shaman (probably in that order) the most.

For what it's worth, I -really- havent enjoyed levelling Paladin.

I have a druid alt that's at 21 right now and I love playing him. I made him because I was tired of always looking for a tank or a healer and figured that if I level him up and get him the gear he needs then it'll make it a lot easier to run instances and what not with him.... as opposed to always having too much DPS and not enough healers or tanks for stuff.

When the stress of raiding gets to me a bit, my boyfriend and I jump on our "secret" druids. He's enjoying his Feral druid, and I'm having a great time with my Balance/Resto druid. The versatility of the druid is refreshing.

I also enjoy my warlock, but she's stuck in her mid 40s, because I'm on a PvP server. I used to play the warlock to just relax and enjoy Azeroth again, but I get really frusterated when I get ganked out of nowhere by 5 horde partying together in Tanaris.

My highest toon besides my hunter is my druid. However, there is no class I prefer playing over another. I like them all.

I have a 40 warlock, 23, druid, 20 rogue, 20 mage, and 20 paladin. Then I rolled a new paladin and left my old one as a bank alt...now my new paladin is 43 and going strong and I'm having a lot of fun. As a Hunter, leveling to 70 was all about sending my pet into the thick of things and keeping my distance for maximum damage. Now I'm directly in the thick of things and it's great fun. I haven't leveled my Warlock in quite some time...I see she has full rested xp at 40, but I sort of lost interest for the time being. I ran into a wall with my druid where I just kept dying on simple little quests and found switching forms to be tedious (and dangerous when done at the wrong time) so he's on the sidelines as well. Overall though, I expect my paladin to be my next toon into Outland, and I'm looking forward to it.

My thinking is this, albeit narrow minded... Unless you are a tank or a healer, your alt should be a tank or healer... IMO if your a hunter,,, you have pretty much played the funnest class (dunno if thats a word but).

I just don't know if theres another class that can give the satisfaction of the hunter minded player,,, I play a 70 rogue and have a druid 40+... I have every other class alts to 20-30+ and none of them is as fun as me hunter... They are fun but... I'd rather hunt... Stealthing is cool though,,, druid and rogue are pretty fun.... sneaky killing...

My main is a feral druid but I certainly enjoy playing my hunter too.

A warlock is probably your best best since its close to your hunter - send the pet in, let rip with dots or nukes and then 'auto-shot' with your wand.

As for Badlands being boring/agree - goto Feralas instead - I rather enjoy working there personally, then pop over to Ungoro and finish up in Felwood/Winterspring before heading to Outlands.

I beg to differ - fun is highly subjective, ergo, the funnest class will vary from player to player.

Personally, I enjoy my druid the most - combat is highly personal and I'm completely on my own, therefore, the victories are mine and mine alone - no pet helping me out.

That's not to say that I don't enjoy my hunter though, but personally, if I could only have one toon, I'd stick with my druid.

Yes, other classes are fun to play. Sure. I did point out that I was expressing my personal opinion, albeit narrow minded perhaps. Meaning that I favor the hunter class as being the "FUNNEST", most fun and funtasticalest of all time. Thats just me. Obviosly opinions will vary from person to person.

Before Shaman and Paladins were opened up to both sides, I had one of each class on Horde, and an Alliance Paladin. After a server split I left the Alliance Paladin behind and started a BE Paladin. I enjoyed playing my Hunter greatly, but wanted to be sure I wasn't missing anything. I wasn't, the Hunter is my most favored class. Now I've got my Mage to 70 and I just kind of pick at advancing him, because just like the Hunter he's a DPS class with some CC, and the feel is pretty much the same just without a Pet and with a lot more frailty. If I advance any other class it'll be a healer or a tank, to give those different roles a shot at the higher levels.

I find my little Healadin to be pretty fun. I really only use FoL in groups, but it is like playing whack'a'mole. "22222222222222222 Oh Shi- hunter getting killed 222222222 ok back to the tank 22222222222222222222222222222222222222 stupid warlocks 22222222 Ahhhhhhh tanks dieing 22222222222222222222222222222222"

After playing my Hunter to seventy, I decided my next class would have to be a healer or a tank. I already had a DPS, after all. So, it fell on my Druid, since she can do both of those. Hell, she can DPS too.

What attracts me to Druids, are the sheer versatility of the class. We can solo almost as hard elites as Hunters with a little bit of shapeshift, self heal, DPS, sheer damage mitigation and so on, and also be fast killers and survivalists. Stealth is always made of win and awesome, and the ability to do all three things with one class is always fun.

I could heal fine in pre-70 instances as Feral, if I had the gear for it. I could tank and DPS just fine as well, with a quick gearshift. (Note: Itemrack is your best friend when playing a Druid). In PvP I can have some hilarious moments when I get out of combat for five seconds and suddenly I'm in Tanking gear making me nigh impossible to kill. Then, five seconds out of combat and I'm in my healing gear, keeping my entire group up with some powerful HoTs, and five seconds after that I'm back in DPS gear, stealthing behind their healer ready to "ravage him from behind".

My DPS isn't as good as a core DPS class. My tanking is good at times, but I'd rather see the Warrior tank on a boss. My healing is situational at best since I have very few Oh Shi-! heals. But I can do all three with some gearchanges.

Not to mention that I am bloody impossible to kill if I decide to stay alive. I mean, shapeshifting out of almost all CC, travelform, catform + sprint, bearform for sheer damage mitigation, and combining all of these... Well, I can run away from any fight if I choose to. If you manage to kill me, it's because I decided to stay and fight in spite of being outnumbered/geared/skilled.

So, for sheer adaptability, there is no class that can match a Druid.

But my Frost Mage, Protadin, Sub Rogue and Aff Warlock are also hilarious classes. The only class I don't really feel like playing anymore would be my level 52 Warrior. It just got too boring. Also, I've never managed to get a Shaman past 20 even. It gets too boring too.

So basically, try all of them. Today, it takes almost no effort to get any class past 30. And by that time, you should have a feel for them all.

I don't think Anything will give me the feel of a hunter. I have tried every single other class in the entire game, and the only other one I like is a paladin (holy).

I started a lock and i'm liking it =D And maybe once I get my druid unstuck, I can keep going. I'm considering just plain monster killing grinding to avoid doing quests in badlands/sos. lol

Perhaps you like the feel of a complicated class with many different levels to control and watch out for while playing.

My main is a hunter and I chose it after playing pretty much every other class until I found something interestingly challenging in playing it.

Another challenging class I think would be the mage, since it is so fragile but at the same time packs incredible power. Completely different tactics have to be used when playing this class, and very often you have to reign in your own damage unless you rip agro off your main tank and cause yourself to die a horrible death.

Other than for the druid (who's flexibility makes it interesting to play in itself). I haven't found any other class as complex and difficult to play like the hunter (yes the warlock is much easier to play).

Not so challenging classes I've found while playing are:
warriors, Priests and Paladins.
Although they are great classes in their own merit, I can't bear playing them more than 1 hour without 'boringness' settling in. They aren't very flexible in their tactics until they are much higher level and even then it requires much re-speccing to feel a difference in play.
---------

About your leveling problem: Go level at Feralas or Tanaris since you are becoming overly bored with Badlands and Swamp of sorrows. At those levels there are usualy 4-5 different places you can go.
