Raid grouping question :: Free Realms

So I've been raiding with my guild for a while now. And we're starting to do more 25 man raids. SSC, Mags, VR and stuff. So before we headed to SSC for the first time a few days ago we decided we roll though Gruuls first. As we headed in there I was checking out the group set up (use x-perl) and noticed that my group was 4 mages and a resto sham. Now we did have 1 more resto sham, 2 spriets, and 2 holy priests in the raid as well. The 2 spriest were grouped with the other resto sham, 1 holy priest and a lock. To me this seemed a little off. Sure I can roll Gruul just fine with my set up now.. usually don't have to use evo. Just gems and a pot or 2. But with the raid I was in Gruul goes down pretty quick. 8 Growths I belive on this run. But later on I would think that not having even 1 spriest in with mages is pretty ineffecient. What's your guy's take on group set ups in 25 mans?

I can't believe I missed this.

Not having a shadow priest can certainly be rough, but doable. Fact of the matter is that a resto shaman does provide a portion of the shadow priest's utility with the mana tide and mana stream totems. Not to mention the very happy wrath of air totem.

The real issue, however, is that there were 2 shadow priests in the same group. Really, they need to spread the love. I say this as both a mage and a former raid leader. Only reason to have 2 spriests in a single group is that they can't put out enough mana alone so you have to keep em together(ie, they suck).

I think we've gotten it worked out. I had a short talk with our two main raid leaders before we went into SSC and TK for the first times. I didn't really have to say much to them. I was just somthing that was being over looked in that group. We've been doing gruuls and ZA for so long with our A group that mana was never a issue for anyone.
