im a 61 rogue right now and was thinking about endgmae specs. i was thinking of going sub with assass for some xtra combo points like this http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=fheboxZzZEMe0MRo0xst (i HATE hemo, just dosnt go well with me)for arena and bg until i got enough points for some nice maces, an dat that point would go sumthing like this http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=fheboxZzZEMe0MRo0xst with some xtra dodge added in there to help. i might raid at that point or sumthin, and toss the dodge, but any suggestios as to whehter this is good or bad? tnx in advance

Best raiding spec is combat swords, followed closely by combat fists and combat maces.

By that I mean a slight variation on a cookie cutter 17/44, 19/42 or 20/41 combat build.

I really don't know enough about PVP builds to comment since I just arena casually, but I do know that 20/41 combat maces worls fine for arena.

Combat maces really isn't that close to fists/swords.

It'll do better damage than any other build, but it's still going to be failboat if you're pure PvE.

Well yeah, but if somebody wants to do PVE and serious PVP without respeccing twice a week, combat maces is their best bet.

It's still gonna be better for both than muti, HARP, or tri-spec hemo.

When we're being buffed this forum is all about the theorycraft Qs. When we're being nerfed its all about the wtf Qs. And when blizz has achieved a temporary balance its all about the noob Qs.

so sue me for asking a common question that ppl need help with. if u dont like the post, rather then be mean just dont post at all. ty for those that actually offered some advice. i was thinking of doing pvp as main, but i might get 2 sets of weapons, possibly gear too, to switch around a bit as i change, and going full combat, with points in swords AND maces.

Do NOT go full combat with points in swords and maces. It will nerf your PVE DPS and hamper your abilities in PVP as well.

If you want to do both and don't want to spend 100g on respecs every week (50g a week if you know what you're doing), you have to decide which is more important to you.

If PVP is more important to you, go with the 20/41 combat maces build. You will be fine for PVP and you won't notice game-changing differences in your PVE DPS. Yes, you would do more DPS as combat swords, but combat maces is better for PVE DPS than anything except combat swords and fists.

If PVE is more important to you, go with a 20/41, 19/42, or 17/44 combat swords build and PVP like that. No, you won't ever get to 2000+ rating as a swords build, but you can certainly get to 1850+ with skill and the right partner.

As far as gear goes, you definitely want to have different sets of gear for PVP and PVE.

For PVP, start off by getting the Season 1 Glad's set and the non-set Vindicator's pieces you can get with honor. It will take about 206,000 honor total for all the pieces, but you will be setup just fine to start arena. Once you start getting arena points, begin upgrading your Season 1 pieces to Season 3 gloves, helmet, chest, and legs, and the Season 2 shoulders (assuming you don't make it to 2k rating for the S3 shoulders). Then upgrade your weapons to Season 3 or Season 2 depending on what your personal rating is.

For PVE, I have posted a couple of different pre-Kara gear threads. The older thread is fine for starting Kara and heroics. The newer one is the absolute best PVE gear you can get before setting foot into a raid.

Your first course of action upon dinging 70 will be to grind enough honor for a pair of the Season 1 weapons, either maces or swords, whichever you choose.

And the people complaining about another thread like this are correct. We do get a ton of these questions a day. The best builds for PVP and PVE are in a thread that is linked in the sticky and if you had just read it through carefully you would have gotten all this information without wasting your time or our time.

Anyway, have fun getting to 70, have fun PVPing, have fun PVEing, and remember, it's a game: HAVE FUN!!!
