I am currently level 26 and I am Affliction spec'd.
This is my normal attack seq.

1. Pet Attack
2. Curse of Agony
3. Corruption
4. Immolate
5. Either Health Funnel or Drain Life pening on my pet's health.
6. If the target is still pretty healthy - I will cast Searing pain
6. Or Drain Soul

This works ok, but I don't think this is the best way for me to grind.

I have read somewhere that I should be using either the Imp or Succy to drain tank?

I am looking for someone to get me on the right path.

Thanks to everyone

Don't cast searing pain - it causes a high amount of threat and will draw aggro to you much sooner than otherwise. A better choice would be shadowbolt or using a wand, imo.

You shouldn't be using drain-soul until it's close to the killing blow (so that you get mana regen): there are better ways to increase your dps/mana.

People use the imp to drain-tank later on in levels, generally not until 40"? As soon as you get dark pact (affliction). Before this, VW is generally a better overall means of drain-hunting. Haven't really used succi much except for crowd control.

Anyways, back to the point - after you've cast your dots, in my opinion, you should be wanding/shadowbolting down the mob until you do enough damage to grab aggro. When this happens, just switch back to drain-tanking (drain, lifetap).

What you've described is not drain tanking, it's drain hunting.

Drain Tanking
Minimum level: 23-24
Mandatory Talents: 5/5 Fel Concentration
Boosting Talents: 2/2 Soul Siphon, 1/5 Shadow Embrace, 2/2 Nightfall, 1/1 Siphon Life
Description:
This is the reverse to Hunterlocking: aside from the opening moves, the warlock is tanking instead of the pet. The technique is again deceptively simple: send your pet, cast your dots, life tap, drain life. If you have Nightfall, cast your instant shadowbolts at the end of a drain life. The point though, is that instead of using the voidwalker and casting with finesse, you will strive to get the monster turn on you once you're done casting your DoTs and life tap. To speed up damage output you will use a succubus or, situationally, a felhunter as your primary pet. In general, to maximize exp / hour, you will mainyl concentrate on monsters 2-3 levels below yours (whereas drain hunting would allow you to fight higher stuff) and avoid getting more than 1 add. In the later levels, though, this is enough to take on yellow elites without breaking too much of a sweat.

In your step 5, you cast a Health Funnel. By that point, Health Funnel should be moot, because the mob should be on you, not your pet. In drain tanking, you absolutely need to pull aggro - that's how you keep your pet alive, not through Health funnel. Your main weapon is Drain Life - but it's wasted if you are at full health and mana has been used. do a life tap (or later, Dark Pact) to restore your mana. Once you have Dark Pact, you can start in on bigger monsters, since your pet will be providing the mana, and your drain will be restoring mob damage on you instead of the hit from life tap.

You shouldn't be drain tanking yet anyways, your VW still out-armors everyone but Paladins and Turtles by leaps and bounds. He shouldn't have a problem with mana, yet, either.

Keep Drain Hunting like you are doing. I don't suggest Wanding unless your looking for attention, as it draws a rather large amount of agro at that level, for some reason.

Most of it depends on your spec for right now. If you are going down the Drain Tanking path, then you will come to a crossroads where both Drain Hunting and Drain tanking are equally as effective, so you will be able to do both simultaniously (1 or 2 on your pet, 1 or 2 on you) to maximize your exp per hour. I still doubt you're ready for that, but wait for an accidental double pull and see how well you fair.

Once you really start to drain tank, usually the Imp will be your best friend. Phaze him out and turn off all his spells but Dark Pact and that little sucker will refill his total mana in 30-45 seconds. Not that that helps you at all -- that will be very VERY important when you hit level 40 and get Dark Pact, though =)
