tank chest questionFollow

recently respecced prot after healing for a good 3 years.
pretty much have 4/5 teir 4 only missing the chest peice.
all badge gear except legs, bracers, and shield.
pure kara gear and the shat'ar rep shield.
Nightbane is a evil guy who won't give me my shield.
and warriors would murder me if i rolled on the gruul's one.
gemed for avoidance red=dodge, yellow=defense, and blue=stam.
enchanted for defense and avoidance when available otherwise stam.
at 103.5 avoidance totally epicced out
very weird wasn't till i got slikk's cloak that i hit over 102.5
13k life unbuffed

hitting that uncrushable number is hard

my suggestion is grab the rep one till you can get the other.
never throw away old tanking gear i still use righteous set to tank normals
gemmed for spell damage :D it's nice out dpsing locks mages and rogues.
threat set, avoidance set, block set, stam set.

but really go after that badge chest peice.

i am looking for good blocking peices
but need to put most of my resourses into my main set

I know what you guys mean about how hard it is to reach 102.4% and then struggling to get upgrades afterwards (I think I posted about my struggle not that long ago).

I found it increadibly helpful to stack up block rating at first (as gives the best bang for your buck). Figurine of the Colossus from Shattered Halls and the Libram of Repentance from badges really gave me the opportunity to start pumping up some of my other stats (armor and stamina in particular).

Also, as much as I like the Chestguard of the Stoic Guardian, I am strongly considering going with the Unwavering Legguards first as their higher block rating will give me more freedom in switching out my other gear.

Finally, I think it's actually more advantageous for pallies to stack defense than dodge. It takes 18.9 points of dodge rating to get 1% closer to uncrushable, and only 15 points of defense to get 1% closer to uncrushable. (Its 20 points of defense rating to get 1% total avoidance, but it also lets you get rid of 2 points of block rating. In other words 20 points of defense is the equivalent of 18.9 points of dodge and 2 points of block).
