I have a friend who currently is using this build or something similar. It's really weird I haven't seen much like it. Do you think this would be effective?

I seen him duel before and he does ok I've seen him lose more than he wins tho.
lol think he's trying to make shreckadin. i wonder how his gear is, is it spell damage or melee stats. with that build i'm guessing he stacked sta and deff rateing.
That spec is so absolutely horrible that I am convinced a Ret pally made it just to make Ret look good in comparison.

i'm convinced that no amount of discussing how horrible pally "hybrid" specs are will keep people from trying it out for themselves. tell your friend though, that if he wants to heal go holy, and if he wants to dps go ret. if he wants to do both i'd suggest a 51/0/10 shockadin spec. it does a little extra damage, but doesn't really give up any healing ability. any more in ret and you start giving up some healing ability. If he wants to pvp i'd go 41/20/0 really. that seems to be one of the more common pvp healing specs out there.
he should go Arcane spec

51/0/10 is not a Shockadin spec. You need to have points in Sanctity Aura and Holy Shock to be a Shockadin.
there's 2 shockadin specs that i've seen. 40/0/21 and 51/0/10. the first is more of a pvp dps/healer spec from what i understand. 51/0/10 is more of a healer with improved DPS spec. I suppose you're right that 40/0/21 is your more traditional shockadin spec, though, with 51/0/10 being somewhat of a variation on the shockadin.
51/0/10 is the healadin-shockadin hybrid it gets more milage but really tapers out at high speed.
40/0/21 is the shockadin gas guzzler, it's a powerhouse until it runs out of fuel, which can be cumbersom for long excursions.
