Pickpocket macro questionFollow

I'm absolutely a novice at using macros. I don't use them much and the ones I use are rather basic. I've recently decided that I would like to have a macro to pickpocket and then cheapshot. The basic macros work well but require me to keep my autoloot seting on. I don't like autoloot since I want to pick and choose what I loot.

I found this macro on Wowwiki which turned autoloot on only for the pickpocket:

/script SetAutoLootDefault(1)
/cast Pick Pocket
/in 1 script SetAutoLootDefault(0)

I then added this as last line

/cast Cheap shot

Here is my problem: When I originally wrote the macro I forgot to add /in 1 to the second autoloot line and it ended up switching autoloot so fast that I never got the items in my inventory before Cheap shot fired. So I added that part in. Now the pickpocket works perfectly, but doesn't turn my autoloot back off. I also get some kind of error in my chat log relating to /in 1 being improperly formatted. I'm not at my computer at the moment so don't know the exact wording.

Can anyone who is good with macros help me out by telling me how I messed up? Or if you know a better macro please share. It's impotant to me that I don't have autoloot on all the time..since I hate it so much.

Thanks in advance for any advice

Keep autoloot on globally for your macros, and just shift+click on mobs to loot them after they're dead. It's a slight inconvenience, but honestly, I'm not sure why you'd want to pick and choose your loot anyways. Even some gray items sell well to vendors (gray weapons especially), and your bags shouldn't be that crowded.

I've gotten a pretty good idea about the gray items I should be grabbing. I always grab weapons and armor. A lot of the gray parts/pieces of mobs also sell well. But there is a bunch of crap that doesn't sell well. I'm currently questing in Zang and am getting tons of fish oils and scales. My shaman has more than she can ever use, they don't move very well on the AH, and the vendors will give you maybe 5s for a stack. I don't want this stuff unless I have tons of bag space. I also like to leave pots/drinks on the bodies and just tell my duo partner they are there instead of stopping to trade window.

I guess it's just how I've always played over the years and I'm set in my ways. I tried to play last night with global auto loot on and it was bugging me to no end.

If you don't like autoloot, don't use it. It's your game.

But...

For all the money you wasted over the years with not looting & selling many gray items, you could have bought 4 Primal Mooncloth Bags. Well, euh, 1, maybe. :)

But serious: once in a while trading pots and destroying stacks of crap you don't want, takes way less time than choosing and selecting the loot on every single kill...

Lol thanks guys.

I intend to get some larger bags and I always pick up stacks of gray items for easy cash. I appreciate the advice on inventory management and time efficiency.

BUT...a macro exists which matches my preferred loot style (as stupid as it may be). So my question remains: "How did I ***** up the macro?"

AFAIK there are no "wait" commands in WoW macros.

It looks to me like the /1 in in your macro is trying to make the macro wait 1 second before turning autoloot off.

I am another who thinks its easier to just leave it on all the time. I have had addons that will list grey quality items and their sell values and allow you to destroy them without opening a bag, dragging and clicking yes to confirm.

If you have Titan Bar, check out Itemized deductions. For FuBar, try GarbageFu. Both of these do the exact same thing and may allow you to use autoloot, but also discard unwanted items quickly.

Thanks all...I'm a little disappointed that one of Wowwiki's macros seems broken. Oh well...back to the drawing board.

Thanks for the advice on the addons Atrophy...I may look into that.

GarbageFu is insanely nice to have. Shift on the bar click to dump with out opening your bags etc.. keeps track of what you toss/vendor so you feel stupid wasting gold via tossing ... and the Auto sale button ... creamy goodness
