Ice Block can be taken down by....Arcane shot!?!?!Follow

Been a while since I rolled a mage, and things have changed since then so I decided to check out the Abilities progression on Thottbot.

As I was cheering that Iceblock LINK is now trainable, I noticed the "Counters" section at the bottom, and noticed Arcane Shot (Hunter Skill) dispels the Ice Block.

Is this just misinformation (I hope) or can Hunters really take down my Iceblock @ 5-41 yds with a click of a button?

No complaints, just trying to confirm this.

Thanks Mates!

It's wrong (it's thottbott after all >_>) or else hunters don't know it, leading you to the same result.

That'd be a laugh.

I can just see the Patch 2.4 notes already.

Hunter

- Arcane Shot now has the same potency as Mass Dispel.
- Multi-Shot has been changed to fire three Arcane Shots.

General

- All cloth-wearing classes have been removed from the game.
- Warriors and Rogues now do the /cheer emote when idle.

I thought this is the case. Arcane shot now works like a purge (and aimed like MS), making hunters a wee bit OP in Bgs, at least. I know that, post-patch, my druid loses his MOTW every time he fights a hunter.

Havent pvped w the mage since training IB, guess I'll have to test it....

Just checked with the hunters of my guild - iceblock is like divine shield (pallas bubble) which is ONLY removable by mass dispell.

Not entirely true.

Arcane shot is kind of like Spell Steal.

If your Spell Steal hits at the exact perfect moment you can steal a Paladins Bubble. Same for Arcane Shot, if it hits at the precise moment of the cast Iceblock can be dispelled.

While it's a long shot it can happen.

It did for a while on the test realm, was bugged to have too high a dispel mechanic or something.

There's other instances of thing what dberner is talking about, as well. Two spells that go off near-simultaneously can both be spells reflected or absorbed by Grounding Totems; it's easiest to see with one spell that has a travel time and another instant-cast, but spell-queued abilities can do it as well (I've had VT/Pain eaten by Grounding Totem before, it sucks >.<).

Yeah factor in a bit of lag and two spells crossing, even though they are supposed to block the other one from being cast or hitting can indeed work both ways. I actually saw something similar happening with my druid, casting cyclone at another druid who was doing the same, we ended up both being cycloned at the same time, while normall a cyclone is supposed to stop any action from the target.

Some mysterious "cyclone in flight travelling to the target effect" which is not supposed to be possible but......mysteries do happen.

hunters are overrated, they are mage squishy toys, sheep the pet rush the hunter. 99% of the time they panic and try to wing clip or back up, blink or trinket and stay on em, they can do much less damage with those blades than with a bow. now all this goes out the window with BS but hunters really arent that great.

Or fill you with arrows while you're trying to get off the sheep cast and push cast back another 1.5 secs, silent shot u, intimidate, scatter, wyvern sting, run up and trap....c'mon. A well-played hunter will often murder a mage, especially if the mage tries to do anything w a cast bar. It's a race to burn down fast and in the three secs it takes a mage to get in a hunter's face s/he's taken 1/2 your health. Doable but not a cakewalk.
