Which is better? I've been playing with them all night and this is what I've decided I like. Just not sure which would be most effective.

I'm in a PvP guild and not interested in PvE content. Also, we already have 3 healadins.

i'm no expert on PVP, but if you have healadins already, then I'd go with build 2. crusader strike is a huge part of a rets DPS.

hopefully tommyguns can offer a little more insight.

Ret is not Ret without Crusader Strike. Other than that, you've got some pretty good builds.

It really just depends on what you're wanting to do. If it's PvP, I'd drop the points in Toughness (which really only helps tanks), put 2 points into Guardian's Favor, and put the other two points into Imp. Righteous Fury.

personally, i think your trading off too many DPS talents for survivability in all builds.
you need every single damage talent you can get in order to even come close to effective damage. and damage is the point of Ret spec, or at least it should be. 15 sec off HoJ isnt worth the sacrifice, and presicion isnt worth 8 talents, unless you raid.

if your really intent on those builds, then go number 2.

Try this on for size if number 2 doesnt seem to work out for you. even has precision.

Build

the 3 points in deflection can easily be put in to either Improved Seal of the Crusader for PvE uses, like AV bosses, or off chance you do a heroic or raid. or into improved Might for a slight increase in AP.

Hybrid builds fail...there are countless posts about this, do some homework

This one isn’t too bad.

Ret Tree
I don’t care for Deflection but even so you should only have 3 points in it. You should be spamming JoC and for that you shouldn’t be without Improved Judgement. You also lack Sanctified Judgement which is a must have for the mana return.

Prot Tree
I’d rather have Redoubt – you’ll never use Devotion Aura and Redoubt will potentially have some situational use. I’d only put 3 into Toughness and the rest into IRighteous Fury. The dmg reduction is worth more than the armor increase.
Just a note: I agree with Dathur you should take Gaurdians Favor over Toughness

Ret Tree
IBoM is a waste – get Benediction. I didn’t look at the rest

Holy Tree
Spiritual Focus is a must have if you go into the Holy tree.
Divine Int is a waste – you won’t have the mana to support it.

You said you have healers so you should stay away from this tree, focus on talents that help you kick ***.

This is my favorite template. I left the last four points out you can put them where you want. SF, Eye4Eye or Vindication maybe…

Vindication is almost purely PvP. It does not work against raid bosses (sadly), and does little against mobs.

E4E is practically useless once you reach higher levels of resilience, and it's truly good against a tiny minority of classes/specs (mages, ele shamans, Destro Locks, Boomkins?)

Deflection is only good, imo, for when you're prot and are trying to reach uncrushable, and for PvP over Imp. SotC.

i've read manytimes that talents that rely on crits to function, do so before Resiliance is accounted for. in fact ive been apart of many agruments about that as it seems that it is an intended feature from blizz. so a class's talent isnt made obsolete from their own PvP gear upgrades.

most hear about this from rogue forums, as normal hits will trigger Crit related reactions in their opponent, as it should have been a crit before Resiliance.

i would assume that E4E will use original damage values for its counter attack.
and even counter attack when you dont even seem to be crit, due to Res.
