I switched to holy before I started doing KZ so I never ran it as a spriest but I think about +800 shadow (not spell) damage is where you want to be. However, you could probably start now.

I'd wait for some official spriests to chime in on that though.

You need a lot of upgrades. 3 of them would be: off hand, bracers, cape. For the off hand go to heroics and save badges for the Orb of the Soul Eater, the best shadow priest off hand well into end game if not the best, period.
For bracers and cape get them crafted, Bracers of Havok and Cloak of the Black Void.

I recommend you take a look here:

Ok, here's where I stand. You just about have good enough gear to be starting kara. Top priorities however:

Regem your shoulders, spell penetration is not useful in pve, put 2 runed living rubies in there.
I would say the same thing on your boots, but you're low on spellhit so you can leave those for now.
Get an aldor shoulder enchant for your shoulders, do the rep grind.
Farm some more instances, get some spell hit gear.

The official answer is you need +76 to spell hit and somewhere between 600-800 shadow spell damage to start Kara. Ideally, you want to be at 800, as Mookus pointed out.

- You probably need to bite the bullet and go ahead get the Spellstrike set made. Besides being awesome starting Kara gear, it also gives spell hit which should be your first goal. Also adds six gem slots that when slotted with runed living rubies adds 54 more spell dam.

Spellstrike set

- Buy a cheap +shadow dam wand off the AH. Can get up to +24 shadow dam, AND will give you a wand that does shadow damage (Flawless wand of Shadow Wrath, I believe is the name). If you've got extra badges laying around, go get the Curved Witch Doctor's Stick for 35 badges.

- Once you upgrade your pants and bracers, get spellthread and spell dam enchants, respectively. Gloves are probably the best pre-kara, get them enchanted with spell dam.

Those are the glaring weakness I see. Going in to a boss fight with only 14 spell hit will hurt.

Your hit is pretty low. Dmg is fine. Drop the penetration as that's not really useful in PVE, it's more of a pvp stat like resil.

This is basically what you want to work towards to start kara:
Quote:
Magic DPS require a minimum of 75 +hit, and 600 + spell damage (overall or specific)

Shadow Priests need +76 spell hit, around 7000 Mana, and as much spell damage or shadow damage as possible. Spell Crit is not nearly as important as +damage

On my spriest I have the whole shadoweave set and the spellstrike hood and pants. Those two sets alone get me to the 76 spell hit. Enchant the shoulders with the aldor/scryer inscriptions. I'd go for the shadoweave robe and then start getting the mats for the spellstrike pants and hood. Find someone that can make them for you. Usually I don't enchant something unless I'm going to have it for a while. For the boots I'd get a vitality (hp/mp5) enchant.

You're not that far off.

Very first thing is to finish the FSW chest. Then look at the Spellstrike set. These three items will get you more than half of the +hit and most of the damage you need to run Kara. The three properly buffed (spell thread and glyph) will add around 200 more damage to what you have now.

Much of the rest of your gear will hold you until you replace it in Kara or with badges gear.

Frozen shadoweave and Spellstrike will get you into Kara without any problem. After that, work on getting the offhand/gloves/wand from badges, and get them enchanted. Then work on the Blessings/Crusade card set and possibly the badges trinket (icon of the silver crescent). Another couple easy upgrades are Cloak of the Black Void and Bracers of Havok, both tailored.

If you have a lot of gold, getting Belt of Blasting made from a SSC/TK guild is an excellent investment as well.

Aldor, the shoulder enchants (ESPECIALLY the honored one) are much, much better than Scryers.

Kinda ironic, from a lore standpoint. The holier-than-thou guys are the best for incarnations of pure darkness.

And Draenei can be those guys...

And BElfs can kill their own prince...

Come to think of it, the expansion kinda screwed up a lot of lore.

GG Blizzard.

On topic, though, go with Mothra's advice, his usually helps you avoid becoming a red smear on the ground.
