I have a lvl 48 all Feral Druid. I want to know what gear is better for DPS cat, if I have a high +15 dex. or a +20 attack pwr. Which one will do the most or am I going the wrong direction, to help my cat DPS?

Thanks

By dex do you mean agi?

If so, agi. 15 agi is a bit more than 15AP, crit, and other stuff, much more useful overall than 20AP

Yes, like I said noob.

Still... by 48 you should know that it's agility instead of dex. Unless you bought the character. Smiley: disappointed

I am at work and did this off the top of my head. Check out my guy at the armory. Name Mysteriou, see if you can think of upgrades. I have only had the game since Christmas, I bought it for my son and got hooked.(game not toon)

Speaking very generally, for Cat form Agility > Strength > Stamina > +AP/+Crit. For Bear form it's more like Stamina > Agility > Strength > +Dodge > +AP/Crit. At your level, and as you're leveling, you probably still have (and can get away with) a single set of feral combat gear that splits the difference.

Agility is best because it gives you one point of attack power per point, and and also increases your crit %. Strength next best because it gives you two points of attack power per point of strength. Stamina is always important because HP = life. Stamina quickly gets much more important if you're on a PvP server, do a lot of battlegrounds, or roll solo most of the time.

In a recent thread a few of us agreed that a agility:strength ratio of 2:1 is pretty good, with stamina contingent on your playstyle.

You can check for upgrades yourself. Mouse over the item in a given slot, pause for a second, you'll see a little extension to the box with a yellow arrow in it...mouse over that and it says "Find an Upgrade." Click it. See upgrade options. Pick one that you want and go get it. Yay.

As you're leveling a pretty easy and effective measure of how good your gear is is the required level to use it. At level 48 if you have a piece of armor that says "Required Level: 30" you should upgrade that badboy. I'd say put a red flag on items when they get 5 or so levels beneath your current level, and replace them by the time they get 10 or so levels beneath you. Green items, anyway...some blue items will last you a lot longer than that.

I've been playing for something like a year now and I still call it dexterity. Old school habits can be hard to break.

Nah, if you play other mmo, you can get confused. I know I still do, thanks to my character at Ragnarok Online (the character there has agility as well, but RO dex works as WoW agi).
Diablo2, too. My brother was playing it the other day and I was watching. When I went to play WoW I sticked with those things in mind.
It happens.

Im an old guy, it actually goes back to when I was a kid and played Dungeons & Dragons. We had to use a character sheet and roll dice to fight. Something that was neat in the day but with computers and a game like wow no need for dice.
I am pretty sure the characters used dex. not agi. in that game. I still have all the old books in storage I will get one out and look to be sure.

But none the less, I went in and changed my gear last night to Agi. as opposed to attack power.
Thanks for the help.

current d&d 3rd edition (with fourth edition coming out either mid year or end year) also uses dex rather than agi. for those who played neverwinter's night I think you know what I'm talking about. (though druids in the pen and paper game have tons of monsters to choose from in shifting forms)

I've been playing WoW for almost 2 years and still sometimes think of it as Dex. It's a result of having played (and still do!!) Dungeons and Dragons for ~16 years or so.

Still love the role playing in RL. Even on RP realms in WoW it's not even close to the same thing.
