A Rogue's humbleness.Follow

So I went on a heroic run with another guildy rogue 2 days ago. He has around 1400 attack power and at the time I had 1817, unbuffed. So I though to myself, "Okay I'm gonna out dps this **** like crazy!" WRONG!! He certainly out dpsed me, but not by too much and at the end of the instance I was left scratching my head like WTF! I checked his stats again and lo and behold, he had a pretty decent amount of HIT RATING!! I always thought that more attack power would compensate for the lack of hit rating I had, but I am certainly wrong. And I wasn't the only one thinking this, as other rogues on my server thought the same thing. So yeah....to all of you end-game raiding/grinding heroics rogues out there, make sure you have a nice amount of hit rating. Attack power does not compensate for it. Flames incoming!

PS: Anyone know the hit rating cap?

I believe the cap is 363.5(so 364). I hear most rogues benefit gemming AP or agi after attaining a hit rating around 325.

What was the difference between your hit rating and his? Spec may also come into play here.

Is there a PvP hit cap?

5%, so roughly 82 Hit I think... for special anyway.

I think the miss rate for DW is 18% or so in pvp.

Not to be rude, but this isn't news to anyone here. It's pretty much common knowledge that Hit Rating is the most important stat for Rogues in PvE.

Obviously, it was news to the OP.

Hehe yeah I did know it.....but I was too stubborn to really pay TOO much attention to hit rating and instead focused on attack power (I know I know). The other rogue had I believe 254 whereas I had 138. And his attack power was around 1400 and mine was 1817. Thats being changed immediately.

Does the precision talent make you hit-capped for special abilities, or do you need 5% hit chance beyond that?

I was never sure about that.

Assuming an equal level mob, of course. I realize you'll need 3.6% more on level 73 raid bosses.

Hit is hit. 5% caps you for specials on equal level targets. Where it comes from doesn't matter.

Base miss chances:
5% miss on instant attacks
24% on white hits while dual wielding
