Charging for Refreshment TableFollow

I had my first incident of a party I wasn't in asking me to create a refreshment table. I know the standard rates for portals. Has a standard rate emerged for refreshment tables?

1-2 gold seems reasonable. I wouldn't try to charge much more than the cost of the reagent and your own inconvenience. Same with portals ofc.

Charge as much as you can. Ask them how much 20 stacks of food and water would cost them to buy per person.

RoR has been a blessing and a curse all at the same time. I will be doing dailies in BEM and people will whisper me asking me to make them one.

If you were in said party - just hand out food and water instead, it's free after all.

EDIT: I need to learn to read >_>

That's a given, but he(she?) wasn't in the party, so it is a sticky question.

I have no problem making a table for people in my party before a heroic/raid etc, but I do have a problem with people that whisper me doing dailies, sitting at the auction house, etc.

I won't do it unless they say that they will tip and preferably a gold or more, I do the same most of the time for portals. If I am in a raid/party of course I will drop one, no problem, but one problem that I have is when I run a BG that lasts all of 10-15 minutes, and everytime that I join (as I normally go for an hour or so straight) everyone is like 'WHERE'S THE TABLE'?! Sorry, just dropped one the last 5 AVs....

I couldn't disagree more. Just because mages can make tables, why should they have to provide them to every moron that demands one?

IMO this goes back to the whole discussion about portals. I can open a portal for anyone, but I'm not going to do it without getting paid for it (with certain exceptions for guilies/groups). Same goes for tables. You want food and water, you have to pay for it.

Hmm the only way I'd bother would be if at least 2 of the party members are literally standing right in front of me. If that was the case, enough people to summon a table were 5 feet in front of me, and had the ability to invite me, I'd charge 2g for the table.

A few things, I won't do it if I'm in a group, or waiting on a battleground to pop, or otherwise busy. You'd have to catch me standing around Org doing nothing, trying to hock a few enchants.

Yes CattieBeCool, the cost of a single table is not much, but when you are grinding honor for a few hours every couple days or so, it can add up fast.

Plus, when you think about it, tables cost a lot more than just the Arcane Dust. Depending on server prices, those tomes cost a hefty amount of gold. I shelled out ~400g for my tomes, plus the 7g or whatever it costs to actually LEARN the spell. Seems kinda ridiculous that we're EXPECTED to throw up a table for free, when it costs your soul and the blood of a virgin to acquire.

But hey those are just my thoughts.

Wow, I feel pretty lucky then. I only paid 50g for both tomes. Sometimes when I don't to put a table down in a bg, I just tell whoever is bugging me that I don't have both tomes. Usually they leave me alone.

I prefer not to have to lie to people, but I know as a mage I sure think about.

But then I'm also known for replying to those begs for gold in trade... after going to darn and telling the lvl 20 in IF that if he comes to me I'll give him 50g... I'll even party up with the guy. I keep AH'n away and if he makes it I put him on ignore... so ya I can be an ***.

Yes, I'd expect a tip for a mage table... It saves bag space and is the best food... But then I would ignore almost any request while I'm ginding or questing unless it is VERY POLITE or offered gold.

he then giv me 5 gold , and a stack of 20 thick clefthoof leather(spelling might be wrong) which i sold for 50g in AH @@

I have two questions on this subject:

How much does the refreshment table cost to make?
How much would you pay a rogue to unlock a Khorium Lockbox?

Add those two sums together and that's how much I think you should charge.

#18 Jan 25 2008 at 5:53 AM Rating: Good
I believe it costs about 20s (maximum (not including tomes to start)). I would normally tip a rogue 1g to open a lockbox, but I would still charge probably 2g for it.
