Viable 2v2 pairings?Follow

Hey all,

I'm seriously considering moving to arena (1v1 and 2v2) when I get my rogue to 70 (currently 61, so it'll be a while) and I looked through the threads hoping to find some info about viable 2v2 team combos and build info. There's some great build and gear info, but not much on 2v2 class pairings or tactics. Actually seems that rogues aren't even a factor in 2v2 teams. I'm completely new to arena but that seems odd to me. What's the deal?

Sorry if I missed a thread/memo/TPS report or something. If there is a thread that I didn't see any link to it would be appreciated.

Thanks and be well,

There is no 1v1 Arena.

As for partners... Priest is the most common one, with a Warlock or Mage for a burst team being a close second. Both combos get absolutely curb-stomped by the FotM Druid/X combos, though, so good luck.

Thanks for the response. My mistake on that. Guess I can't get a new epic for what is basically dueling. *sad-panda*

I've just started looking up info and trying to learn about arena. Trying to prep myself for the switch from a regular 5man instance team and feel like a total noobletron from the nation of Cantfindhisasswithahat.

The tank and healer from my regular instance team (warrior, priest respectively) are both BG pvp addicts and I was hoping to be able to 3v3 with them. Would you consider 3v3 a more viable platform for the rogue?

The more I read, the less likely a successful 2v2 rogue seems to be.

Thanks again,

3v3 is the rogues strongest bracket.

in 2v2 rogues rank 5th out of 9 classes.
in 3v3 rogues rank 3rd out of 9 classes, most of the top 3's teams have a rogue.
in 5v5 rgoues rank 7th out of 9 classes.

Those #s are last I checked, might have changed since 2.3.

I tried pally/rogue/mage last week, pallies just fail at 3v3. They get locked down early and hard, they have no hots, their bubble gets mass dispelled.

On my mage, I play with a rogue in 2v2. We both have pretty busy schedules, but we climb 40-50 points a week from our 10 games. In 3v3 I play with same rogue, and we're trying to find a priest. We had a geared as hell pally play with us this week (T6), gear didn't seem to matter, he got owned. He also seemed bad, didn't know basic stuff about other classes.

Ret pallies are semi-viable in 3s although I still think they are at the "lets figure out how this is going to work" stage.

i'm playing rogue + pally in 2v2's and it's hard. We're using the armor aura here.

First we were 70 blue's with some PvP gear, now we're kara purple with some S1 stuff and doing better. First team we had fell straight to 1300's so we disbanded that. Now that we're getting a little more geared it seems to go a little better. Now if only the pally remembers to heal and not tries to DPS :P Hovering around 1450 rating.

For 3v3 I'm doing mage + pally + myself and it's sort of working. Mage has some PVP stuff on him. We're hopefully farming more stuff soon. We use the casting pally aura.

Try to have the mage to sheep the enemy healer. If there are pet's I'll try to blind the pet to keep them off the pally / mage and go after a mage/priest/lock. When there's a lock I always go after him so we can try to control the fears and death coils. I get kited by hunter's and druids a lot so i don't bother unless they are at low health or getting too close to killing my team mates. We're hovering around the 1500's rating for a while now. We usually loose to more than one fear able class, more than one kite class (for me hunter/druid and sometimes mage) or any kind of war + druid + X team. Pally is slow on BoF tho ;)

Nub...get that mage outta there and get a lock.

With a rogue/priest/lock combo, with decent gear/ability you can get past the 1700's _easily_.

Until you run into mage/rogue/priest and they farm you for 100 points since they are a much better comp.
