Hi,

I'm new to both WoW and these boards. I'd just like to get your opinions on something. Which is better for my rogue "Agility" or "Attack Power".

I've just earned the Medal of Courage from a quest chain in STV, it increases Attack power by 20 and gives a +9 bonus to stamina. I've sold most of my previous items that have a + modifier for attack power, always choosing to go with the agility items. My previous neck piece had a +4 for agility and +6 for stength, should i have stuck with that.

I read somewhere that the Medal of Courage is a great twink item, this is the only reason i'm asking i suppose. If i hadn't read that i would have probably just sold it to a vendor and kept my Agility boost.

TIA

No, you picked right; the Medal of Courage is far superior to your previous item. There are many formulae to determine the relative 'weight' of each stat you have; all dependent on what area of the game you are focusing on right now.

You are currently leveling, so your priorities are, in no particular order, staying alive, and killing things quickly. Stamina will keep you alive, AP will help you kill things quickly. Agility is more valuable, in that it performs all of these functions.

Agility gives you Attack Power, Crit Rating, Armour and Dodge, and is increased through talents or buffs that boost that stat. Attack Power just gives Attack Power, which is why you can get the Medal at level 45: an item with 20 Agi instead of 20 AP would be more appropriate to level 60.

That being said, the distinction between AP and Agi only really comes into force at the endgame. If you are a combat build, as you should be whilst leveling, crit is kind of irrelevant on gear, as is +hit (providing you have 5 points in Precision). Items with Agi, AP, Sta and to a lesser extent Str are all good for you; just pick items that are clear upgrades that don't gimp you too much in any one area, and you should be fine.

Ok :) i thought it was a good choice. I just wanted to make sure i was making the right decisions regarding new for old, in case i end up ditching good items.

I am spec'd combat swords and as you said, i have 5 points in precision.

As i'm new to the game im always trying to pick up new tips all the time regarding my combat style. Perhaps you could tell me if i've got this right. My main strategy for grinding goes something like this:

1. Stealth up to target and cheap shot it
2. select another target and shoot it / aggro it.
3. Re-Select 1st target that already has 2 CB points from the cheap shot.
4. Pop Evasion, Slice & Dice, then Blade Flurry.
5. Spam SS until blade flurry runs out.
6. If the 2 targets now have less then 50% i will Eviscerate the 1st target and finish him off before i turn on the 2nd.
7. If they are tougher than i expected i blind the 2nd target to give me more time to finish off the 1st guy.

Is this an efficient way to grind through the levels or is there something more that i could be doing?

And thanks for the reply :)

stick to 1 target at a time, less reliant on Cooldowns and less healing required. I personally went CS->SSx3->KS->SSx5->Evis->SSx5->KS...ect, ect, ect, ect.

Basically just stun it as much as possible w/out using Blind and gouge. You will do slightly less dmg but take a lot less dmg=less bandaging/eating=more killing.

Oh and if your target lives long enough for you to get that second KS off, either your hitting it with a pillow or you might wanna check to see if it's an Elite.

That looks good, i'll give it a try tonight, i'm not as reliant on bandages as i can use cannablise, but i'll certainly give it a go.

Cleared STV of quests yesterday so im off to grind the Hinterlands tonight.
