First of all here is armory and spec currently http://armory.worldofwarcraft.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Smolderthorn&n=Vulk

Ok so I finally got BS high enough and made drakefist 9currently in process of farming mats for upgrade to dragonmaw). I am 10 EOS marks from buying the S1 OH mace. So I will respec in next two days.

This is a newb question but do I need to do anything besides move the 5 points from swords to maces. Is there any game play issues that I need to change such as CP cycles and the like.

I think from reading it is a weapon swap and respec but wanted to be prepared for any upcoming surprises.

Thanks
Vulk

it plays the same as swords, you can just swap the weapons+spec points and be fine

I actually have a question that sort of goes along with the topic.

With the addition of crit to the mace spec, are maces viable for raid dps? Which would you consider to be the better of the two in terms of dps output?

Sorry if its been debated to high hell(I scanned through the FAQ and didn't find anything that answered it)

For PVE I'd base it on whichever you can get your hands on.

Most people will PvP for their weapons, so the "whichever you can get your hands on" argument doesn't really work or even answer the question.

Swords will beat Maces in raiding everytime on the parsers and in reality. Rogues do the majority of their damage through sustained white hits, not from their crits. Due to this fact, the sword spec is better, though both are viable.

thanks for the info. I've also heard some talk of a dual weapon spec build with fists/swords. Supposedly with a fist weapon in the main hand and a sword in the off hand, you can get the bonuses from both the spec. Anyone had an experience with it?

From what I've seen, a fist/sword hybrid combat spec will get close or on-par with straight up swords. Personally, I don't really see the point in bothering, but that could just be preference.

extra crit at low levels of crit makes a bigger difference

the offhand sword proc swings the mh fist which the 2nd hit also gets the crit bonus

i think its slightly ahead of full swords, but fist itemization is trashly and thats a lot of talent points to spend
