Mechanics questions about mangle...Follow

My question is a simple one...how does mangle affect the DoTs? Does it affect current DoT's, does it affect DoT's after it fades, does it affect rend?

So if I were to rake and then mangle, would the DoT from rake get the 30% damage bonus, or would the damage bonus apply only to new DoTs after mangle is placed?
Or if I were to mangle and then rip, then forget about the target (for whatever reason) or stop mangling (for whatever reason) would the last tick of rip get the damage increase?

The DoTs will have an increase in damage only for as long as the Mangle debuff is on.

So...

only new DoTs

Maybe I misunderstood what you were getting at, but Mangle will boost the DoT from Rake in this example, but only for ticks that happen while the Mangle debuff is present. I just checked and confirmed this in game.

Aye, the DoT increase happens the moment the Mangle debuff appears. You can use Rake and then Mangle to increase the DoT from Rake.

Though, I highly suggest you use Mangle first as the initial damage of Rake is a bleed effect as well and having the Mangle debuff on already will increase its damage. Not that Rake's initial damage is anything to cheer at, but still.

Well, I was pretty sure that mangle should come first, I was just wondering if it didn't (i.e. watching TV and didn't notice it missed, so I apply it later) if I'd have to reapply rake.

to put it in example mode:

you have pounce on a target and you apply mangle. the pounce ticks, despite being applied before the mangle, will still get the mangle bonus as long as mangle is on.

you put mangle on a target, and then rip it. the rip ticks get the bonus until mangle wears off. applying a new mangle re-applies the bonus.

so basically, no matter what you do, if you put mangle on a target that has a bleed effect on it, the bleed gets the bonus effect.

Or more succinctly:

If mangle is on a target WHEN a bleed ticks (including initial tick), that bleed tick does 30% more than it would have if mangle was not on the target, regardless of when the mangle or the bleed was applied.

does it affect rend?

It does affect rend in the same way as described on the druid bleed effects. In fact it applies to all bleed effects, such as deep wounds and garrote

Thanks to all!

I had wondered the very same thing about mangle.
