Gear progression past uncritable/uncrushableFollow

I've been carefully getting my gear to the point where I'm uncritable and practically uncrushable (I could easily be uncrushable if I'd fork up the money for some better gems, but I want my epic flyer first). Now I'm not sure how to progress.

I seem to have formed too delicate a balance where I can't seem to replace any one piece without losing my uncrit/uncrush status. I think that getting the Libram of Repentance would free me up some, but I'm not really sure what to get after that and I don't know if it's worth it to use that libram later on. Heroics don't seem to have many Pally tank items (except via badges) and I don't have a group to try running Kara with yet.

Any suggestions to my gear/build are welcome, especially any pieces that would really bump my survivability up. (I do like the Unwavering Legguards, but 75 badges is quite a few.) Thanks.

Edit: yes I've read the gear reccomendations in Thels tanking guide, I'm just not sure the best order to gear up(also, there are some newer items not in there).

Looks like you're doing quite well. You are doing everything by the books it looks like. You have a lot more block than dodge, but you have the HP to back that up. If you're looking to upgrade gear for HP but afraid to lose avoidance, go with some good ol' agility enchants on your gloves and weapon.

Also, don't be fooled, the Libram of Repentance's usefulness is somewhat unmatched. You won't find better until 25mans. If you don't have the badges for it, you might go for the libram in Sethek that increases your Consecrate dmg. I forget the name.. But I use that one for normal 5mans, questing and AoE grinding.

As for some upgrades I strongly suggest the Dabiri's Enigma as a replacement for one of your trinkets. Probably the figurine if you can swing losing the extra block, as(especially on bosses) the figurine's use is pretty useless. Dabiri's Enigma's use pretty much substitutes one holy shield if you're low on mana which can happen.

A few other suggestions:
Get the Spaulders of the Righteous for 2 reasons. A) They're just plain good. B) Running Bot to get these helps your Sha'tar Rep
Along the same lines, get your Sha'Tar Rep up asap to get Crest of the Sha'tar. A somewhat easily attainable shield that is purely amazing. You'll replace it with the shield from Nightbane, but even that shield is barely better, I ran the calc's for it here.

Once you have your mount things will be easier too, having money for better gems/enchants will improve everything you've got. On that note I personally wouldn't bother with any gems other than the +3Def/+4Stam in the beginning, even if you don't get the socket bonus. It's usually not as good in comparison to the avoidance and HP you get from those gems.

Also, if you're not into Kara yet, the % of avoidance you will need for basic 5mans and heroics is dramatically lower than what you'd need for Kara as you're fighting lower leveled elites than what's in Kara. I can't remember the exact #, but I'm sure someone else could fill you in.

:EDIT:
Also, if you at some point have the money, be sure to look into obtaining Darkmoon Card: Vengeance. A fairly hard card to obtain on Horde side for the 2 servers I've been on, but fairly cheap to obtain on Alliance side(the price difference made me cry).

For a look at the enchants I'm using currently(I'm somewhat geared from Kara), you can check out my Pally Sinaura. Not that I know better or anything, but it's just an example. =\

Happy hunting!

Thanks for the tips TR. I plan on getting the Spaulders of the Righteous as soon as I can get Laj to drop them for me (only 2 tries so far). Of course, I'll need to get the Libram of Repentance first to keep my block rating high enough to be uncrushable. That shield looks nice too. I apparently have a lot of Tempest Keep runs ahead of me.

As to Dabiri's Enigma , I've always had the exact opposite thought when looking at it: "Why would I need a bonus to Block Rating when I've already got Holy Shield?" It does seem nice to have a holy shield backup if I'm out of mana or charges, but I think I'd rather have something like Broach of the Immortal King or Adamantine Figurine which add more defense and have an ability which is useful more often.

I agree, taken from all angles it just comes down to your playstyle and how you feel on iffy situations when comparing gear. I did mean to add that your Figurine of the Colossus gives additional block rating rather than Def. Solid avoidance is what you want to look for once you've gone over that 490 mark on Defense. The Colossus trinket was the last one for me to replace because of this. If I ever need more avoidance and I don't have any other way around I'll go back to the Figurine as that Block Rating rocks.

Something I'll include which I didn't previously was talents. I notice you have 3 points in Precision but only 2 points in 1H Weap Spec. I'd suggest taking out the 3 in Precision and putting them into 1H Weap Spec for a couple reasons.

First, while you do want to make sure you make contact with your weapon for obvious reasons, you don't want to put too much thought into this. +hit is going to be a waste to you in any situation where you can either get more HP/avoidance or more spell dmg.

Second, I say "where you can..get more..spell dmg" because with the talent '1H Weapon Specialization' it states "Increase all damage you deal when a one-handed melee weapon is equipped by 1/2/3/4/5%". This means your spell damage as well. So as I said you'll be sacrificing 3% chance to hit to gain 3% more aggro to every target that touches you.

All up to you, but that's the last thing I noticed, I swear. =D

TR, I could use a little scrutiny every now and then to make sure I've got everything up to snuff.

Anyway, I plan on filling in the rest of 1H weapon specialization when my avoidance gets a bit higher (by specing out of reckoning). I don't have any problems creating enough threat right now, and Precision helps a lot with threat on bosses where the chance of them resisting my spells is much higher and more of my threat comes from judgement and vengeance ticks. I guess I'm speccing for boss fights and gearing differently for trash

Sounds good. Honestly, the only reason I keep reckoning is for soloing Strat for money. It can cripple me in fights like Prince(in phase 2 that is), but I tread on in this crazy crazy world.. of Warcraft...

You can use my strategy and just not attack during Phase 2.

Also, as pertains to Dabiri's Enigma. If you are already uncrushable, there's really no point in getting it. The pants from that quest are much better for holy paladins and I think it is worth it to grab the pants for your healing set than to grab the trinket for your tanking set. The trinket that drops in SLabs has more defense on it and can boost up your armor (helpful when you are fighting things that hit REALLY hard.)

This is my guild's pally tank and he is a beast, easily the best pally tank I've ever come across. Thought you might want to see some of his gear for possible upgrades.
