I recently got my new owl to 70, and it was time to name him. I decided on Micrathena. Micrathene whitneyi is the genus/species name of the elf owl, and Athena is the greek goddess of wisdom whose symbol was the owl.

However, I typed in only Micrathene without changing the last letter, and didn't notice until later. This isn't really that big of a deal, but if I can change it, I'd like to.

I've thought of asking a guildie to report the name as offensive, but if the gm's half awake, that won't fly. Any suggestions?

If you explain this to a GM it is hard to imagine that it won't be changed for you as it obviously is a mistype. Then again, GM's can be as unpredictable as the weather...

Pray that it's a slow day on tickets about how a hunter ninja'd a rogue item, or so-and-so had a name that was almost sorta offensive, or doesn't follow naming guidelines.

If the GM is in a good mood, he might do it. If not, like you said, not a big deal. It's still a name that a lot of people wouldn't think of.

No joy.

But oh well. My owl is a boy, and adding an 'a' at the end would have been a bit feminine anyway :).

Thanks for the suggestions!
