Just a quick questionFollow

Like the subject says I just have a quick question. I'll be starting this game shortly and was wondering if any race can play any class? I mean can I play a Night Elf Warrior? or should I just stick with what they're more built to do? I'd rather not waist time creating a lol-character.

Not every race can play every class, but among the combinations that are actually possible, not very many are lol-worthy. Also each race has its own unique racial ability. Like for example if you're a dwarf warrior you'll have an ability called Stoneform that increases your armor by 10% for a short period of time. But if you're a Tauren you'll get a 5% inherent HP bonus.

Ah, I see. So would a Night Elf Warrior just be a waist of time then? what about an Undead Warrior?

There might be some better ones, but Blizz did a good job of keeping it fairly balanced. It all depends on what you like. As a NE you'd get an ability that lets you effectively go into Stealth mode, which you can't otherwise do unless you're a rogue. And you'd also get a 1% increased chance to dodge, which is quite desirable as a tank. Did you plan to play a dps warrior or a tank warrior?

A night elf warrior is by no means a waste of time. Night elves have a natural 1% dodge racial that is awesome for tanking endgame. Thats 1% less dodge that you'll have to pick up via gems and gear.

Undead also make good warriors. They are better for PvP however if you look just at the racials. Their Will of the Forsaken is an awesome fear break and the fact that they are the smallest horde race makes them hard to click in battlegrounds and areans.

What it comes down to is play whatever race you like the look of the best. There's no use in rolling a warrior, leveling him or her to 70 and then deciding you don't like the race.

Thanks for all the input, and I was planning on playing a DPS (thats damage per second right?) type of Warrior, though I wouldn't mind tanking either.

lol-character...

Gnomes...gotta be the gnomes. Make a gnome, pick up engineering and make yourself a pair of goggles.

Back to serious stuff,

Each race has his/her/it's own advantages and disadvantages. Since, I'm mostly and alliance player, I'll be hardworking and list out briefly what each alliance race offers.

Dreanei - is very good because they have a racial that allows them to heal every 2 minutes and also a +1 chance to hit bonus to them and their group. +Jewelcrafting skill is nice to have but I wouldn't recommend it as your first profession.

Night elf - would have Shadowmeld which is great for ambushes in PvP and they also have +1% dodge racial bonus which helps.

Gnome - Escape artist...and +Engineering skill !!! Go get them goggles !!!

Human - Diplomacy is good in the end game where you need to grind reputation with factions. Expertise with swords and maces is wonderful to have and perception, useful in PvP but marginally useful in PvE.

Dwarf - Stoneform a very nice racial ability in both PvP and PvE. Treasure Hunting is not too bad.

Did i mention gnomes look great in goggles ? xD

I regret making a female human warrior. The animation for the male human is so much cooler =/
