ok so i was meesing with builds and came upon the spirit pvp build. I dont know if it would work but we could give it a try. the build is a (29/27/5). You main talent would be Spirit tap of course i think u would pwn in BGs. just think about it http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=bxMuzIMdbLZ0xtGbbVbZx

there are different pvp builds such as arena builds dics shadow, bg builds holy dics and shadow, its all in what you want to do. I would find a priest on your server that pvps alot and ask them depending on what spec they are to figure out which is the best.

I am sorry that i cannot answer your question about pvp builds bc i only raid and use my raid spec to pvp with just for points every week ;)

I just don't see that build working especially around spirit tap. It is very hard to time getting the killing blow in BGs even if you are shadow and can get very nice burst damage out of a MB/SWD combo (where often at least one will crit). Yet alone being a SoL build and having to hope that SoL procs and you can unleash SWD to finish an opponent. Also, you hardly spend any time outside oo5sr so is that +50% mana regen worth it? Compared to damage boosting talents probably not.

If you want to "pwn" BGs as damage just go shadow, there are much better damage boosting talents in there and things like silence are life savers.

If you want to heal BGs (after all healing most often is what wins BGs) you'll also have to redo the build.

The fact of life in battlegrounds is that regen is almost immaterial. In PvP fights, you will rarely use all of your mana; on those occassions when you do, you will typically die almost immediately thereafter. In both cases, regen is nowhere near as important as in, say, a ten-minute PvE boss fight. Consequently, spirit is low on the priorities list, and gear that is good for PvP (i.e. has resilience) has zero spirit. If you get spirit gear, your survivability is wretched because no spirit gear has resilience.

Don't get me wrong, a Smitelol build in BGs could probably do just fine, but Spirit Tap will underperform and boosting your spirit is unproductive at best. Drop Spirit Tap for more damage talents and be thoughtful with your itemization.

ya i see what u guys are talking about. I was just throwing something out there and it looked cool at the time. I dont think u guys get were im coming from. Spirit Tap is going to be used as a combo with improve devine spirit and Spiritual Guidence wich combine too equal spell damage by up to 35% of spirit. lets say you have 300 spirit(which is easy to come by) and Spirit Tap kicks in u will have 600 spirit. 35% of 600 is 210. +210 spell damage along with the +14% more damage for spells and +9% chance to crit and Surge of light seems really good too me. u could get a 25% crit rate easy to make surge of light really nice.

Theres absolutely nothing wrong with trying to think out of the box. However understand that the "norm" exists for a reason. Most often because it makes the most sense.

No, I absolutely get where you are coming from but once again understand practicality and experience trumps theory crafting. Spirit Tap will not work because it depends on getting the "killing blow" and like I explained in my previous post it is almost impossible to time getting the killing blow on a PvP toon with 10k+ HP when your spell only does 1.5k dmg while 3 other people are pounding on that same target. It is hard enough to do on casters with sub 10k HP, now try doing it on a warrior or hunter with 16-20k HP. Also, while ImpDS is a beautiful raid talent, it will most often be dispelled/purged in PvP. So while it looks pretty on paper it is nigh useless in an actual fight.

In fact, you'd be a lot better off swapping Spirit Tap for three points in Mental Strength, a point in Force of Will, and Power Infusion. Unlike your proposed Spirit Tap combo, Power Infusion is controllable and reliable (and will produce a more dramatic effect).

Spirit tap only seems to be worthwhile for solo PVE grinding to cut the downtime as the killing blow will always be yours. IN BG's the occasional fight might be one or one with you finishing your opponent but mostly even then some party member is likely to cut the last bit of health of your target.
