This is my alt and i was wondering what I can do to improve my threat generation while tanking.

Here is my armor link but I am in solo DPS gear. all my Tank gear is "of the Champion" at lvl 62 and lvl 63 so my Defense is 473 in that gear with 18% block and 15% dodge and almost 12% parry ratings.

I just dinged 65 so I am waiting till 66 and having my main make the Adamanatite Gear for my warrior.

My goal is to MT. I was the MT in Mana tombs at lvl 64 with 4 other toons that were 3 - 4 lvls higher than me.

Thanks in advance for any comments , good or bad.

Step 1: Respec. Delete Anger Management, Iron Will, Improved Charge, Improved Rend, and Improved Shield Wall. That gives you 9 additional points to spend. Put 2 of them in Improved Thunderclap (Arms), 4 into Cruelty (Fury), and 3 into Defiance (Prot). Your next point when you ding 66 should be used to finish off Cruelty, and then after that it's up to you.

Your gear is not too bad, just keep doing instances and it will upgrade itself. There are some notable quest rewards you can consider though. In particular, you should try to do Durn the Hungerer in Nagrand and get yourself a Crystalline Kopesh. In Hellfire Peninsula do Overlord and get yourself a Regal Protectorate.

I used that one until I got my Sun Eater. Kopesh is wimpy, but it's a great tanking weapon. Or theres one axe from rep.. in Hellsfire...right?

I'd check the Kara checklist for gear information... I used it and my 1st Kara went really well, I MT'ed Currator with very little problem just in gear from that list.

I'm actually using a Grom'tor's Charge now, but the quest requires either 68 or 70 to even get access to the quest. It completely outclasses anything before Sun Eater as far as I can tell though. For an aggro weapon (like, say you're overgeared for a particular instance but are doing it anyway for whatever reason), the best thing I've found outside of Heroics is a Terokk's Nightmace (drops from Talon King Ikiss in Sethekk Halls).

The thing from Hellfire reputation you're thinking of might be Honor's Call. Considerably less stamina than the Grom'tor's charge, and slower as well. But better for threat generation since it has hit rating and higher DPS. Either way, by the time you get Exalted with Honor Hold you're probably well into heroics and/or kara anyway, so it's a moot point.

Generally speaking, you shouldn't go for, for a tanking spec, are imp. rend (it's basically a bad talent for a very bad ability - rend's only real use is to make sure rogues can't restealth), iron will (it has it's uses, but the points are better spent elsewhere), and imp. charge (again, it has it's uses, bloodrage gives you the initial 10 rage, so charge isn't all that great).

Anger management is nice, as it's a constant bonus in rage gen, so higher threat.

What you should do is max out imp. thunder clap (costs less, does more damage, slows attacking speed more), max out cruelty (works out to be around a 5% increase in TPS). Then in the prot tree, you definitely want to max out defiance (15% more threat and expertise [so less dodges and parries on your hits]), imp. sunder (makes devestate cost less, so you can use it more often, thus more threat), and max out focused rage (same idea as imp. sunder, but it effects all your attacks, basically).

There's not really any point in having 2/2 imp. shield wall. It's your last "oh ****" button, and if you get to that point you're in trouble anyways.

Imp. taunt is nice for 5 mans and heroics, but beyond that it's not much use since most bosses are immune to taunt.

Imp. shield bash is again mildly useful for 5 mans annd heroics, but isn't all that great since an untalented shield bash will already stop casts from whatever school of magic the spell you interrupted was from.

Also, when you're tanking, make sure to use shield slam every cooldown, and to use devestate rather than sunder (basically take sunder off your bar). Your priority should be Shield Slam -> Revenge -> Devestate. If you need to thunder clap, demo shout or commanding/battle shout, do it in place of a devestate.

Yeah i have my macro to use Dev and Shield Slam.
I dont even use Sunder anymore.

And i have spell reflect as well to use against the casters.

I will look into a respec. Tks.

I agree pretty much with Duvar on the talents.

I would also try to get points into Focused Rage if possible and if you max both that and Improved Sunder out, you get to have 9-Rage Devastates. :)

Oh - that Shield you have is awesome for its level. It took me to 70 and into Heroics (because I couldn't get any of the usual blue 70 ones to drop) and I finally replaced it with the Heroic Badge epic shield just a few days ago.

Keep your eye out for any items that have +defense on them and hold onto them for your tanking gear set. You will need to reach a defense rating of 490. Dodge, Parry and Block are good too and get as much +stamina as possible while keeping your defense goal of 490 in mind for your tanking gear set.

Yar true. I however went 1/15 on my Sun Eater. I also tried to get clever by running H.Ramps for that "... 7 hell" mace, that one honestly is not that bad.

The only reason I suggested people thinking about Honor's call is because I've seen it being used by some endgame tanks. What can you say... drops rates sometimes are not in your favor. I'm still waiting on my stupid King's Defender and Nightbane chest. 0/5 now...and counting.

Just giving the OP options. I went the farm the heck out of H.Mech route(it was like my daily quest lol), but I managed 1 per night for like 15 nights.

Truncheon of Five Hells xD

I have that. Got lucky. Took me 5 runs I think. I practically got all the tanking drops from Ramps, including the epic belt. I know it sounds silly but I'm currently using the Millennium Blade to tank now. Never had much of a problem for Attumen and Moroes.

Don't forget the cool trinket from an easy quest in Netherstorm (when you hit 70).

Yea I've done S. Labs at least 10 times now trying to get the Adamantine Figurine, but I may just end up going with the Netherstorm one. Since I'm a JC I could also probably get by with a Figurine - Dawnstone Crab, but I just like to have every possible tanking item I can since I never know what kind of situation I'm gonna run into :D
