Is this stuff going to take me to outlands?Follow

From what I'm reading the old world Lvl 60 gear is outdone by even the low level outlands gear as soon as you get there. With that in mind would you guys recommend that I wait until I get there to upgrade my gear? Or should I hunt around for gear upgrades before I go?

Lvl 53 hunter, here is the link to my armory profile

Thanks in advance, I'm coming home soon and want to start my planning now so I can shoot to 70 and start some raiding.

I didn't look at your linked gear, because it doesn't really matter much. You will replace your old-world stuff with outland greens. As long as you have up to date gear(either from quests or instances), you will be just fine. Even if you have a hard time at first, you take a few deaths while completing quests, you will upgrade your gear.

You're worrying too much about it, your level 53, you "technically" have 5 more levels before you can pass through the portal. Just keep doing what your doing, trying to keep as much gear up to date as possible and you will be fine. Just don't go too far out of your way to get specific gear, it really isn't worth it. Hell I went to outlands with an Arms warrior at level 58 with somewhat outdated gear and it was fine. If a warrior can do it just fine, a hunter will have little to no problems.

Totally with Synn here. If what you are wearing is enough to survive now, it will work to start Outlands. Your first few 'quests' there will basically be grinding. Your pet will have the hardest time staying alive to start if your aren't BM spec as the lowest level beasts are tough. If you are BM spec, you'll be fine.

Make sure you have solid pet handling abilities, then no matter what spec, you'll be okay. I went in at 58 and while challenging, it wasn't THAT hard.

If you go through the portal in 5 more levels with the gear that you have now, you're going to have a hard time. I would at least replace your rings and your bracers with something more up to date. You'll get a new 2h axe almost right away in hellfire, but I'd still suggest picking up a cheap main hand weapon that gives you stats instead of a chance on hit. I'd also suggest replacing that neck piece. damage spells and healing do nothing for hunters.

You have the right idea with the "of the monkey" and "of the falcon" gear, but a lot of it just needs to be replaced before you'll be able to get through the first few quests to get new Outland gear. Level 35-47 gear won't cut it.

But don't spend too much money on replacing your weapons, belt, chestpiece, and legs. I remember that those are among the very first things you can receive through quests.

I don't think he's going to be hanging on to that mid-late 30's stuff on the way up to 58. There's a ton of opportunity to replace it in that span.

I went to Outlands with 40's and few 50's stuff and survived. The lower armor and health was harder on Morris than it was on me! LOL!

So, while PM is right, you do have some upgrades to do, Synn is also correct, the natural path you take to 58 should replace that old 30's stuff. Greens are fine for Outlands as long as they are mid 40's plus in level rank.

I did nothing but grind after level 40 until 58. I was still wearing mid 30s gear when I hit OL or whatever greens happened to drop that were useful.

Hellfire isn't any harder than anything else, except that those damned pigs seem to aggro from miles away.

ahh sounds good... thanks for the answers guys- That's about what I figured anyway. I'm sure in the course of getting there some stuff will drop anyway. I'll take a look at changing out the rings and bracers though, they seem to be the weak spot for me right now.

As a bit of a sidenote:

- you can get through the portal at 58 and the lowest quests start at 58
- but... there are outland items available (through AH for example) starting at level 57

So technically, hold on for at least 4 more levels, buddy!

Also keep in mind that there is no real rush to get into outland. Well, unless you’re rushing to group with friends. As long as you are having fun playing the game that’s all that maters. So if you’re enjoying questing in Azeroth you can easily continue to do so up to level 60. This will give both you and your pet a couple more levels to soften the transition to Outland.

There is no need to soften transition to Outlands, I went there at 58 with 30th greens and it was easier than old world and more exp, plus after just few extremely easy quests, I get free gear of the lvl that you can only obtain if you raided in old world.

Also I bet I could have easily managed without any gear and grey bow. Just pointing out how easy starting hellfire is.

There's also some basic level 57ish mail that Leatherworkers can make but the name of set escapes me now. It's like the first thing outland leatherworking trainers teach.

If you are talking about the Felscale set, it goes all the way to around level 64, and is about on par with Of the Bandit and Of the Monkey items. Decent set, not something to truly be drooling over. There's a level 65 breastplate though, but it's a Dragonscale LW pattern, and I'm not sure if it is available to non DS LW Hunters.

There is no way to check what you specialized in? Armory doesn't have it... I THINK I'm dragonscale LW but it's been 7 months since I've been on my account... I'll need to check...

Looks like I'm just going to shoot over to outlands when I hit 58 and see what I can do. The woman said that I won't be able to do it and was trying to tell me to wait until AFTER I hit 60.... so that's a personal challenge to do it :)

Thanks again guys, I'll just upgrade with what I find along the way and not worry terribly about it.

As SynnTastic said, you will be fine even with outdated gear. But if you want to get some items up to outland level, you have five levels to go, keep scanning AH for level 58 and 59 greenies with of the Bandit stats.

One set is the Netherstalker of the " " which my MM hunter found to be excellent. Of the Bandit gives lots of AP and good Sta / Agi stats.

Its BoP so its not.
It is also something like 360 LW so not something a lot of people have pre-70...

Again, chancer are that if you are continuing to do quests to lvl and not just grinding, there are armor quest rewards on the way to 58. At that point, go to outland and start questing and exploring. Theres really no reason not to.
