I have been leveling with fury for quite a while now. Just recently I started wondering if missing everyother swing is normal. Thanks in advance.

Very normal pre level 50. You have a base miss of 24% when you are dual wielding. It is very gear dependent and you need a lot of +hit rating to help in that field.
I would recommend sticking with the fury spec and switching to a 2-handed weapon while leveling until you get a decent amount of +hit gear.
