That's my armory, and i was wondering if anyone could give me some advice as to which gear i should replace and what i should replace it with. My guild clears kara weekly, we're trying to get a gruuls group together by matching up with another, much more experienced guild. However, they are insistent on using their own healers, and only want our DPS-ers. So i was wondering how i could get better stats and get in contention for a spot =)

Biggest thing to work on, IMO, is your reputations. Thrallmar for the helm enchant, Lower City for the trinket, Aldor for the exalted shoulder enchant, Sha'tar for the mace and whatever damn faction it is that gives you the healing to ring enchant formula instead of the spell damage one.

Second, you should replace that cape. I know it has crit, but I know there are better mp5 ones out there. Same goes for the necklace. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a DPS caster out there who thinks you deserve a good fonging.

Throw a healing spellthread on your pants. Or at least a Magister's Armor kit.

Consider getting the healing trinket from badges. Ditto with the healing ring.

You really do need a bit more gear before I'd say you're ready for Gruul. Yeah, your gear will let you do in a pinch, but you're not quite ready, IMO.

To build on what poldaran said:

1.) Vitality to boots, the only enchant a holy paladin should ever use, except on your Shadow Resist gear set (which you won't need to BT/Hyjal).

2.) As far as trinkets I would actually recommend getting Xi'ri's gift from Sha'tar rep instead of the LCP, because...

3.) You want to change your chest. Yes I know thats some good stuff, but its not the stats you need/want right now. Save it for later or regem it for PvP. You seem to be a moderate PvPer anyway (prolly PvEing 60% PvPing 40%). I would reccomend the breastplate of many graces.

4.) You need to get the Sha'tar exalted mace and slap 81 healing on it. The healing you gain from that alone will make up for what you lose in your chest.

5.) You need to respec. Gruul you will be at max range so you will need Aura mastery. It is also the one fight in the game that if you're progressing on, Imp. Lay on Hands is crucial, it saves raids. You may actually have to have a PvP spec and a PvE spec, if you don't like having those talents in PvP. Many classes have 1 spec for raiding then respec when they're doing PvP. However, if you're that set on being with the big boys in 25 man raids, you need to change your spec around.

6.) Go ahead and finish out your gems. You have epic gear, don't put greens in them. The only two reasons to EVER EVER put a green gem in an epic piece of gear is if its an offspec you don't care about (ie. ret) or it holds you over until you get back to a major city and replace it with the good one. A little tip for you. Go through the list of possible gear drops for the content you're working on and go ahead and get the rare gems (even if raw) for those drops. Plan ahead. I'm sure you save enchanting mats ahead of time, go ahead and save gems.

7.) As a general rule of thumb stay away from spell damage and healing gear, unless you're replacing a green. You're not a shockadin, you're a healer. And actually if you get your healing up high enough you'll end up with more spell damage than a shockadin would have anyway!

8.) Make sure you load up on consumables. Whether you're going to flask or use elixirs, its your choice, but choose one and have plenty of them. Bring at least 30 super mana pots so you can use them without worrying about how many you have left. Go to Zangarmarsh and fish up some sporefish, its the best food buff in the game for paladins.

I also like skullfish, if you've got enough mp5.

Or golden fish sticks: +44 healing.

As for the gear, if you're doing Karazhan you should be stocking up on Badges of Justice. Some of those rewards you ought to consider, given what you're wearing are Band of Halos (to replace the Violet Signet) and Bishop's Cloak. Essence of the Martyr would also provide an upgrade.

You might also want to look at the leggings: High Justicar's Legguards, gemmed out with +heal and +mp5. Not much of a healing upgrade on what you've got but more +spell crit which is never a bad thing.

Oh and I like your shoulders. Wish my guild could take down Shade of Aran so I could have those.

With regard to the necklace and cape, i always figured that 20 crit > 30 healing. The impact that crit makes seems to really beat the small amounts of healing i would gain using an all out healing necklace. Any thoughts on that?

Rep wise, that's kinda what i'm trying to work on, but i find repeatedly running the same instance to be exceedingly boring. I'm slowly building up a nice collection of badges, shouldn't be too long before i get the band of halos and essence of martyr.

As for the Gems, i was going to fully socket all my gems with blues, but when my subscription ended (taking a month long break), i found myself with 2g only 2g left. Once i get back to the game my dailies should be adequate enough to get the gems i need.
