Tanking trinketsFollow

Hi everyone,

I just wanted some opinions on which trinket to take. I have Moroes' Lucky Pocket Watch right now, but it seems like my block value is going down as I replace my blues with Kara epics =(. So I was thinking of getting Gnomeregan Auto-Blocker 600 to replace it. I'll lose 2% dodge but I'll still be uncrushable.

So, what do you think? Should I blow 41 badges on it?

Thanks!

Frankly I'd rather not be hit than take marginally less damage when hit...

Up to you though!

If it was block rating it may be different, but block value? Eh.

Hmmm... is there a certain block value I "should" have for main-tanking Kara? I don't think I've seen any discussion on it, but I'm not sure.

My block value is about 260-ish right now.

I actually don't know how to determine my block value but i can say this - I've been through Kara and been in Gruul's. Up until I got my stupid T4 gloves I didn't have a single item with any +Block Value on it.

Tons with Block Rating on it, but not a shred of armor, trinkets, rings or whatever with block value whatsoever. In fact I'm a little annoyed that my gloves have it on them.

Actually I think this is a good question.

Dodge or Block.

On one hand you don't get hit. Well, that's good. No damage is better than some damage. Also easier on the healer. But at the same time if you don't get hit then you don't get healed and your mana doesn't get refeshed so in a way not getting hit is bad. But then again, not taking damage is always a good thing. I hate pulling band-aids off... But block... with your shield spike, and your Blessing of Sanctuary (which by the way does or does not get ++s from your spell damage?) help you build more threat? And keeping agro is for sure a good thing when your a tank. And isn't block still part of your % for uncrit/crush? And when you block you don't take damage either? Someone better answer this one while I go get some more rum...

Cool thanks Celcio. Nice to get some confirmation from someone that's been there =D. I was worried that the value was too low haha. Oh, and to determine your block value you just mouse over your block percentage and it says how much you will block.

To Simskin, if you block an attack it doesn't mean you avoid all damage. That's what Block Value is for: it determines how much damage you'll stop. You're not going to completely block a raid boss's attack, you'll only stop a fraction of it. But, blocking still gives you threat and at least a little bit of damage reduction, so I guess it's just best to balance dodge and block =).

Any raid tank paladin with a shield spike instead of something actually useful fails.

/sign

If you don't have +18 stamina, or +Block Rating should you need it for uncrushable, you fail.
