3v3 specific spec...Follow

#1 Jan 16 2008 at 3:25 PM Rating: Excellent
So I'm going to try a 3v3 tonight with a Warrior and a Priest.

Main idea is to pick a target and WTF own him while our priest plays hard to get and keep up the dispel.

I'm hesitating between 30/0/31 and a more classic shadowstep build.

The way I see it, poison talents aren't that important, since we'll be using MS and Hamstring (I'll most even be using Deadly and Mind Numbing, to further lockdown the target).

The main strategy of course is to assist the warrior, dropping a premed + CS + 5 points Imp EA and then spamming Hemo. A target with MS, Imp EA and Hemo on it usually goes down pretty damn fast.

My lack of mobility has SF Hemo probably won't be an issue - I mean, the Warrior's shout and intercept means I'll have time to get back on his target anyway. The big advantage of course, is Cold Blood (which can be preped) usage when the target is in dirty deed range... that's a lot of burst damage when coupled with the warrior's MS and Execute. Not to mention that SF Hemo with QR is an extremely energy/combo efficieny build, which should allow for some decent damage...

Still... no imp Sprint scares me. Hence why I'm hesitating between it and ShS. ShS is overall less damage I believe, less Combo and no 'finishing' Cold Blood... but it does mean mobility.

There's the worry that our priest will die too quick... but here's hoping that the immediate of having a war/rogue with S3 weapons jump on 1 target (preferably a clothie) will be scary enough that they'll react to us rather then charge the priest.

I think I know why you are using a Priest, but Druid solves all the issues you have worrying about your healer Smiley: nod

You do gain the dispel, and mana burn. That's a lot of ******* pressure.

Actually, in an ideal world, I'd take a druid. Honest. Druids are cruise control for a 2k rating in small arenas.

Thing is, I don't know any good pvp druid that doesn't have 3v3.

The priest is the priest I've been playing with forever. We've got duelist together and got 1850...

If the team doesn't work, at least I know it's because of comp and not because the healer suck.

Lack of CC is the only thing I really see.

I really doubt you guys should have trouble getting to at least 1700-1800 with it though. After that, I see all the weaknesses being exploited.

id imagine shadowstep being better, since you can lockdown target whos LOS'ing your warrior, or the mana burn target

then give them time to move into position

seems to be harder to.... take the pressure off? so to say?

and cheat death and harder hemos do help a smidgen

Except your DPS will actually be better with 30/0/31... Seal Fate is a bigger dps increase then Sinister Calling is.

With double vanish, double evasion, CloS and double sprint (okay, a lot less impressive without it the imp talent), I doubt people will try and kill me first over the priest or even the Warrior. So Cheat Death seems like a bit useless. I suppose it might mean clutch victory if it goes to 1v1... but usually, you want to avoid those situation, not count on them.

And then there's Cold Blood... A Cold Blood 5 point Evis will put someone in Dirty Deed range ninto Execute Range... and then it's GG.

It really comes down to how baddly I need mobility (Shadowstep).

hmm....mobility.

well, with a war and a rogue, theres really no feasible way to keep both of you snared for the long term. crip, wing clip, and hamstring are the only snares that will stay on you (the rest can be dispelled) and you can stoneform out of crip, so that leaves wing clip and hammy. now, if a warrior is trying to get hammy on both of you then that means a decent amount of time with your priest alone to do what he will, and your warrior can still intervene the priest if he needs to get back to support him, not to mention intercept.

for wing clip, a hunter whos busy clipping you guys is in desperate straits i think. snare trap could be a problem, but that can be countered somewhat by forcing them to come to you (or waiting for them to come to you as the cast would most often be).

id say 30/0/31. youll pretty reliably be able to get someone into dirty deeds range, and like you said, thatll enable getting them into execute range pretty easily.

1794. We actually got 1800 (20-0), then lost 3 times, then won 3 times again. Then the warrior had to go to bed... so 23-3 is the final score.

Our 3 losses went as follow:

First, we bumped into a Spriest/Alock/HPaladin. We beat them, although they killed our Warrior. This was the first time of the night that one of us died, so were joking about that...

Wham. It's them again. Lock go down, Warrior die... I get on the Spriest, my priest get tunnel vision and follow me. And that allows the paladin to raise the lock. Stupid, stupid! Smiley: mad. We lose.

A bit annoyed to have our 20 win streak end, especially in such a stupid way... we Q-up again... it's them again.

And I don't know what happen, they must have taken their vitamin, because we simply couldn't kill them at all. The Paladin just healed over our damage and the Warrior eventually went down, then it was GG.

Q-up... it's them again. We decide to go on Spriest instead of the lock. Same story, can't down him. We lose.

I was honestly shocked - We went against teams with decent gear (And duelist titles and/or S3 weapons) and hell, burned down Warrior/Hunters/Shaman with a PLD healing them and it wasn't a problem. But that pld was able to keep Clothies up! I'm guessing they used Blessing of Light or _something_ or maybe he was in high end PVE gear... I really don't know how they managed that.

A bit shaken, we Q up again. Different people. We win 3 times in a row. 23-3.

If we run into that combo again, we'll split up. Rogue on Spriest, Warrior on Alock, Priest on Pld (mana burn). The paladin shouldn't be able to keep up both his partner while being mana burned, and we should be able to keep our respective caster locked down, once the Paladin is out of mana, it's GG.

I don't foresee to much problem getting to 1850+ next week, with a bit of luck I think we can even hit 2k. Aside from that one team, it was a walk in the park. It's kinda funny, my old 3v3 struggled so hard to hit 1750+...
