My love for pallies started way before BC. I was playing my warrior and my friend was on his pally. We would go into UBRS and leave with loot and the rest of the raid scratching their heads and going "How they hell do they do that ?" In Strath, I would be standing there with my 2 hander and my friend would have his shield and sword on. He would pull and hold the mobs and we peel it off him. Very effective. At that time, a pally tank wasn't a very viable option because of the protection tree and what not. Anyways, I only started lvling my pally seriously when BC came out.

I fully agree that pallies are the best and most efficient single target healers in the game. No HoTs ? Roll a Dreanei paladin. I once healed a group in SV and we could've kept on pulling if the mage didn't run out of mana >_> And another time in SV, we got a shadow priest and I never ran out of mana. VE + VP = mana overflow !!! (if I'm not wrong, heals from VE will top up a pally's mana too).

Oh and Zig, your friend is pretty ignorant of the other classes. What CaptainJack said is so true. Yeah, druids have lifebloom but what good is that when you're getting hit for 5k each time and that damn spell is only healing you for a measly (compared to the damge taken) sum every 3 seconds ?

Take it from a prot warrior, I would prefer a pally healer over any other classes...cept for priests, depending on the intstance xD

I'm a Healadin on Medivh (toon name Cenosis) With proper experience and gear a Holy pally IMO is hands down the best. We can flash heal forever, have situational buffs, and I cannot tell you how nice auras are (Improved Concentration Aura is a godsend... think Illhoof going bad.. and STILL managing) with the right Trinkets (check my the armory) a Pally will last forever. Also the ability to CRIT heal when you CHOOSE is good for hard encounters. Cutting casting costs in long fights helps too (Zul Aman has alot of these). I also am a HUGE fan of MP5 gear for pallies, high crit is good, but MP5 will allow you to last... and lasting is the pallies REAL strength

In raid situations, 7 seconds is all it takes for that big bad boss to lay down a couple of solid smacks. and when their every hit takes off something like 1/4 of the tank's HP, those few smacks do hurt. HoTs aren't the best thing for boss healing really. it's useful to keep the rest of the group topped off, especially as it's instant cast, but try to heal a MT through a raid boss with HoTs and you'll be pleasantly surprised by the results.

A pally posted on the main tank is really fantastic, seeing as good pallies never go oom, especially so in raids where one shadow priest is enough to top off the pally's mana. Druids, shammies and priests just don't have the sheer survivability and durability of paladin healers. And no, FoL does not suck. It's a good bit of healing on a very short cast, and most good pallies stack up a good bunch of crit, which means even more mana regained and bigger heals. Plus pallies have the best wipe prevention tools available.

You really ought to tell your friend to **** off. All the classes were made with a purpose in mind, every one fills a niche. Anyway, if after 4 months you're still 55, i really suggest not rerolling, it'll take you even longer to get to 70...

Well, i've let him read this topic a few times and he cooled down a lot now, anyway I respecced holy last week because i finally hit the outlands and got some healing gear. I've done AV a few times now and saw my mana-efficiency got me over 50k more healing than a priest who was at my side all the time. I took a screenshot to immortalise it:

Look...I've got a friend who seriously thought Combat Daggers was the best and fastest way for rogues to level. Go say that on the rogue forums and admire the brand spankin' new hole in your self-esteem balloon.

The moral of this story is that you can't take one guy's opinion as fact. You need forums like this, and even then you need to identify good sources and bad, tally up everything you read, and most importantly, make your own decision.

We are probably just hanging around for the auras and blessings.

I feel like the D&D-Bard class most often than not.

The simple most inarguable reason would be Blessing of Salvation.
