I know this topic is a dead horse and has been discussed many times, but...
I am now in the process of applying to bigger guilds that are doing more than just Kara. Currently, my +heal is sitting at 1504, and my holy crit is at 26%. My impression was that crit > +heal for the most part, and 1504 isn't BAD. I've put almost all my gems and enchants towards crit gain, and I find it works very well for me.
Right now, the big hole in my gear is a healing mace. If I got the mace from Kara eventually, I'd be looking at +120 healing right there. In the meantime, I'm working towards the S3 healing mace, which would be about +200 healing.
Here is my concern. I'm looking at the application threads that other holy pallies are posting. I've seen quite a few from folks that have 1700+ bonus healing, but 5% less crit than me. They claim to have experience in SSC, TK, even BT. The guild I'm in hasn't made it past Gruuls yet.
So... should I continue on my current course stacking as much crit as I can? Should I bite the bullet and sacrifice some crit for healing? Should I go against every fiber in my being and upgrade to that stupid Sha'tar rep mace, wasting about 500g (on my server anyway) on the purchase and the enchant for the 80 bonus healing I'd get? (Yeah, I'm stingy)
I also see that a lot of people are specing 43/13/5... I sacrificed some things for the imp conc aura, which I REALLY REALLY like. I can't see those 5 in the ret tree being useful at all.
