Retribution talent specFollow

#1 Jan 16 2008 at 1:03 AM Rating: Decent
I just rolled a Paladin and think that the fastest way to level is through retribution talent tree. I was wondering if anyone could tell me the most effective way of investing in retribution without wasting points on valueless talents along the tree. If there is already a discussion on talents to have and avoid along the retribution talent tree, could someone please link it so that I may read up on the topic?

thanks.

not at my computer, but off the top of my head, i'd start off benediction, improved judgement, improved SotC, Seal of Command, um, the 5% crit. from there i forget the exact order of talents... i'm nearly done writing a ret guide and i'll put it up here probably in the next couple of days for critique. i talk about the talents that are useful and not in there.

From the FAQ:

2.2.2 What talents should a Paladin be getting as he levels?

Again, it depends on which of the methods above you want to do. My personnal recommendation for single-target grinding is to first move up retribution, grabbing Benediction, Imp. Judgement, Imp. SotC, and then SoC. After that, move up Holy, getting Divine Strength, Spiritual Focus, Healing Light, next 2 whatever, then Illumination, and Divine Favor. Once you have DF, there is almost no downtime between pulls. After this, you can move down holy to get holy shock, or you can start moving down Ret towards CS.

Though it's worth noting that you can't have both DF and CS (Crusader's Strike) as this suggests, due to there not being enough talent points even at 70.

I never said you'd get CS, just that you'd be moving down towards it.

If you like grinding go prot, grab some mobs and AoE. They can kill themselves attacking you (I think its hilarious).

Protection grinding only really shines after you get Reckoning, which requires a minimum level of 35. Up until then you can get away tanking and healing instances with a Retribution spec and it's also good for grinding.

One of the best things about the Paladin talent trees is the lack of "useless" talents.

All Retridins must have the following:

-Holy-

Divine Strength

(Usually, Retridins get Imp. Dev. Aura and Precision, and sometimes even BoK from the Prot. tree)

-Retri-

Benediction
Imp. Judgment
SoC
Conviction
2h Weapon Spec.
Sanctity Aura
Sanctified Judgment (edit: seriously, you deserve to be slapped by your own keyboard if you don't get this)
Reptentance
Fanatacism
CS

Edit: What the heck, here's my Retridin's build. Take a look.
