Warning: This is the opinion of a feral druid who has not done anything high level as Boomkin.

I don't really understand your friend's talent build. The small number of points in Feral tree aren't really going to do anything effective and they haven't gone down far enough into restoration to get Subtlety, which is needed since they won't have any real threat reducers in boomkin form.

This is what I think would be good for a raiding balance druid:

I could see dropping a point in something from balance to pick up the second point in balance of power because the more +spell hit you have the better.

First and foremost, I am a raiding balance druid on my main Mandragal. I will not say that my gear is the basis for starting to raid with a balance druid as some of what I have does not drop until raiding. However, I believe that the spec I have is almost optimal for raiding. There may be a way to move the points around for better benifit but the build is all about mana efficiency.

As to base stats for starting into Kara: 7500 mana, 7500 health, +500 spell damage, 80 mp5 while casting. This would be a rough guess and all of this before any buffs. The moonkin armor does not matter much lest they are stupid and pull agro. I myself have strived to setup a full leather moonkin set as opposed to the cloth that most boomkins go for.

P.S. No Moonkin druid should ever be wearing the Heavy Clefthoof set if they are in their damage gear. That is just not right.

Yeah, looks like she's wearing some sort of PVP set, which might explain some of the odd choices of talents. I'm a Leatherworker myself, so I had briefly toyed with the idea of gemming a Heavy Clefthoof set for pure spell damage to use until I can get some Arena gear. Dunno if it would be all that effective though.

Brisin,

I am not sure how you found that profile but at least it tells me that I am myself on a good track. He has the same spec as I do. The big difference is he is in a place to get T6 stuff. I am in a guild that is still working on Grull and the like atm. Only real difference though is about 270 spell damage. That just makes sense given the raid gear difference.
