Elite Boar?Follow

I have recently picked up WoW and have been browsing the Hunter's forums quite frequently.

I have decided to spec BM for leveling and I really like Boars because of their Gore and Charge.

I have been on many pet sites and I have been unable to find an exact location of a certain armored Elite Boar.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about? If so, could you please post the area and coords, please?

Thanks in advance.

Yes!
Great link. Very much appreciated.

Has anyone tamed him? I see his armor is high, but I'm not sure about DPS.

Boars are great pets, charge is a useful stun (and is an earlier alternative to dash), and gore is a good damage dealing attack. The armour and DPS and health statistics mean a bit, but you don't really need to worry about it, as gore helps bring the DPS up.

Good deal.

I noticed on Petopia that there were 2 different Elite Boars in RFK.

Any differences?

Nope, all pets within a family are the same, with exceptions that come along everyone in a while, but none in the boar family. Also, just so you know, there are in fact 3 different armoured boars in RFK, a Blue and Black, White and Red, and a Brown and Black.

Ah, quite sorry.

It'll take me a while to figure out what skin I want to go with.

No, don't be sorry, I didn't mean it in a derogatory way. In fact, you are one of the few new posters that use proper spelling and grammar.

Well, I hope to contribute here.

WoW got me to stop playing Tactics Arena Online.

I was a top poster on the forums there. Bad grammar/spelling has become my primary pet-peeve over the years.

I noticed that also, one reason I took the time to look around for the info....

most people don't understand that just communicating in a clear concise manner will get you a better response then posts with long run on sentences which make no sense.

Do appreciate the good typing and good luck with the boar

I appreciate the positive feedback.

I have decided to go with the Rotting skin. It looks like I need to be around level 26 to start my trek for him.

Thanks again!

I do believe that, even if you tame an elite boar, once it is your pet it reverts to the same base stats that a non-elite boar would have if you tamed it. This goes for all pet types.

This is the truth.

somewhat on the topic, anyone else bummed out that alliance get that Bellygrub boar in Lakeshire at 24 to charm? Has Charge 3 and gore 4, is pretty much always spawned unless someone recently killed it, and it's the best boar until like lvl 50 or something.
Seems like Bellygrub is the ONLY beast with gore 4 too unless Petopia is wrong on that part.

As Horde to get a boar with charge 3 we need to enter RFK and charm an elite mob.

Altough I suppose the looks on those makes up for it... to some people :P

Not trying to derail the thread, but...

Funny you say that. I have 3 hunters: two orcs and a troll (one is on a PvP server).

As soon as each dinged 24, I have made the dash to Redridge Mountains to tame Bellygrub. It really isn't all that hard to sneak in and do it (even on a PvP server), assuming you don't mind going for a swim and doing some off-roading. Track humanoids makes avoiding unwanted contact rather easy.

Of course, I always name my boar "Bellygrub." It makes me smile to think about Alliance players wondering if I really ran all that way to steal their pig, as he is charging in on them.

BTW, thanks to the Allakhazam posters from a loooong time ago who gave me advice on how to get to Bellygrub.

I can confirm this too. Tamed the armored boar ages ago, it becomes the non elite boar indeed. However it keeps the armored boar looks, which in my opinion looks great and is always good for a couple of laughs from the remarks and /w you get from not so well informed players. Best remark I got:

"WTF, you got gear for a pet!! Where can I buy the plate armor pieces for a pet and how do you equip them?"

My response: "Well they are custom made through blacksmithing and bind on pickup..." (could not resist the temptation.....).

well im looking at the map and as far as i can see you pretty much HAVE to run along the road into the zone..
Either from duskwood or elwynn, gotta be pretty lucky not to be spotted.

Also since the mob actually IS a questmob you gotta be lucky enough that nobody is currently on that particular quest, or even running from the graveyard which is sorta nearby.

Or sees you from the camp of kobolds just above the cliff there..where they also quest..

See where I'm going? :P

I have to admit though sometimes it's exiting doing that stuff.
Recently went into Westfall at lvl 16 bloodelf (and not the sea-way but actually from Duskwood zoneline) and ran all the way to the beach to tame a bird to get my albino-bat Screech 1 :D

All this talk about Bellygrub being Alliance, hah!

He looks plain, nothing special. Just get your Aga'mar or even better (in my opinion) Raging Aga'mar. Get to Bellygrub to steal his abilities or just wait a some levels and get them elsewhere.

To remind you: we have the best Bat skin available to us, very close to the Undercity: Ressan the Needler, how I love thee! He is level 11, so for Alliance that low very very tough to obtain!

Bellygrub ... pfff.

I love you so much. Let's fornicate, and spawn hordes of tiny Forum Tyrants, who will lash out in righteous wrath at all the lolkiddies.

I’ve taken my level 10 dwarf hunter through the Barrens to just outside of Thunderbluff to tame the pink tallstrider. I’ve taken a level 19 dwarf hunter to the Barrens to tame an albino crocolisk. I’ve taken an orc to Westfall to get the chicken non-combat pet. Thankfully I play on PvE servers. *smiles*

While some expeditions are more challenging than others, it’s nothing new for either faction to want something in the other faction’s territory. Though I’ve never tried it, I think one of the more challenging runs I’ve read of was a horde hunter going for an owl in elf territory for his first pet.

Really, it isn't that bad! I have done it twice on normal servers and once on a PvE server at fairly common times. The only time I died was when I wasn't paying attention and ran into an elite croc in STV!

For anyone that is looking for the safest route... Go to Grom'Gol, and swim up the west coast of STV into Westfall. Just before the Westfall Lighthous, go to shore, and cut through the mountain pass south of Moonbrook, heading toward Duskwood. Cross the river into Duskwood, and stay along the river, heading to the northmost part of the zone. Follow the northern river to the NE corner of the zone. Here, you'll have to get on a road to enter into Redridge. Head due north along the western mountains in the zone, and you'll be at Bellygrub in no time. Just remember to use track humanoids to identify potential threats ASAP.

AotMonkey, Freeze Trap, Concussive Shot, Tame, and Feed FTW!

Indeed, and that is the main point. Of course, getting a level 24 pet with the most powerful Gore until level 48 is nice, too!

Well, I don't care that much about skin, but I do like the look of Bellygrub. He's a nice, brightly skinned boar, whereas most are a bit darker. However, the best part about him is that he is the only mob in the game with Gore4. I have a level 29 semi-twinked (high-end gear, no enchants or augments) hunter, and as a boar loyalist, there really was no other option for me.

All this reminds me of the days when the Death Ravager was tameable. I made my way in to the Draenei starting areas, and waited for a warrior to do his lvl 10 quest. I trpped the warrior and tamed it before he could kill it. Good times. Too bad I couldnt PVP with it, I kept it anyway.

Draenei hunter going to Ghostlands at lvl 10 to tame a red Belf kitten. Try me. ;p

I'll admit that quest was a bit more epic than it should have been... XD but LOL. I got a tell just about everyday while I was leveling in Westfall/etc: "whered u get that cat?!1"

Good times...

I think you're confused there, Calabar. The pink tallstrider is in southern Darkshore, just north of BFD. 'The Rake', a pretty maned lion, is on the east side of Thunderbluff. I also ran my level 15 hunter all the way over there to tame him back when his faster attack speed was desirable. On the run from Theramore my hunter died a total of five times. Those damn invisible spiders along the road and a couple crocs got me.

Nope, the pink tallstrider is near TB, while the turquoise one is in Darkshore.
