Question about Arena Gear..Follow

#1 Jan 15 2008 at 10:23 AM Rating: Decent
Just a question about arenas. I was just wondering, how much arena points do you get in a daily worth of "Arenaing". Because I just want pvp gear once I'm level 70, I can't be bothered raiding, attuning for raids etc. Like for example the Vengeful Gladiator War glave gives a very good bonus with 247 +spell damage, I find it pretty good.I also don't see the point in doing Black Temple just to get something a bit better than the arena gear.Just to add, people with arena gear can kill someone with full raiding epics, or tier 6. The Vengeful War Glave requires 1000 Arena points, do you need to do a hell of alot to get it, or not?

Thanks

PVP gear is for PVP and PVE gear is for PVE. Yes, you can fill in a couple slots for PVE with PVP, but you shouldn't go in to a raid in full PVP. Lack of hit becomes a big issue and you will be upset when you are missing 10+% of the time.

How many Arena points you accrue per week depends on which team size you are playing. I forget the exact ratios, but 2v2 gives less than 3v3, which in turn gives less than 5v5. As a guide, on my 3v3 team, I get about 320 pts/week at about 1515 rating. A 2v2 team would probably get 299pts or so with a 1515 rating. For more accuracy, google "arena calc" and use one that pops up.

Couple other things. I don't think the mage S3 (Season 3 - Vengeful) weapon is called a Warglaive but I'm not looking at wowhead or the Armory right now. Whatever it is called, I'm quite sure it costs more than 1000pts. In addition to its point cost, there is a rating requirement to purchase it, 1850 to be exact. You can get the S2 weapon, which is nearly as good, w/o any rating requirments (and for a few less arena points to boot). You can also get the S1 weapon via BGing.

Finally, I don't think the OP is too concerned with PvP gear viability in raids, but I will say that the Arena weapon is about the only Arena piece that you'd want beyond Kara/Gruuls. Lack of hit (and int to a lesser extent) on PvP gear makes it lose its luster against raid bosses.

you can buy season 1 arena gear for honor points earned from playing in the battlegrounds (you can't do arena until level 70). each piece is 14,500 honor:

http://www.wowwiki.com/Gladiator%27s_Regalia

you'll need 65,250 total honor to buy them, plus tokens from various BGs

i haven't played BGs since the latest patch, but i remember getting about 400 honor per AV. expect to run a couple hundred BGs to earn enough points to buy the set.

take advantage of BG weekends to earn honor faster. look for "call to arms" on the official event calendar:

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/events/calendar/

also take advantage of the daily battleground quest

correct, if possible to get the S3 Staff I would do it in a heartbeat, it is the best you can get up to BT.

Getting the gladiator's war staff is pretty good. If you put a +40 spell damage enchant on it, it will make up for the damage loss form merciless gladiator and vengeful gladiator staff.

Not when you consider that I would have put the 40 spell damage enchant on the Merciless and Vengeful staves too.
