How to chain crit for 2k+?Follow

In WSG I was watching a mage from the roof, waiting for him to be alone and low on mana before I kill him and grab the flag. I noticed that for being level 42 he was able to nuke every one that critted for 2k. I eventually got the mage after a few of my bud went on suicide run to force the mage to burn off mana.

How does a level 42 get to have such a high crit rate? That's almost 100% crit rate. I'd like to know since I may roll a mage when I want a break from my druid or if I was forced to camp out of a dangerous or annoying issue (ie level 70 camping my corpse after ganking me)

Icy Veins/Frostbite + Frost Nova + Shatter means you'll get a massive number of crits on rootable targets. Not entirely sure how he got 2k crits repeatedly, though.

He probably just got lucky. Also, when stuff is frozen, you get an extra 50% crit chance on the target. You, being a dr00d, should have no problem killing a frost mage because you can just shapeshift out of frost nova or any frostbite procs. After that....we pretty much just lose.

Damn dr00ds.....

Actually, running a feral druid oom by forcing him to shift is hilarious :P.

Especially if it's the EFC or you get him stuck in caster form. Smiley: laugh

spam rank 1 frostbolts on druids so they constantly have to break snares.

Save Frost Nova for Dash or Frenzied regen tbh. Shifting means they lose them. If they do not shift, introduce tthem to your friend pain.

watch some of "The Fat Cow" series of videos and see how frost mages will lose to a good druid

If he was throwing fire then most likely he has combustion.
Combined with pyroblast, combustion can kill most classes with 1 or 2 spells

I agree, all about combustion; nonstop crits for a fire mage. And if he was frost he shattered. A good mage at that level can chain crit,.though for 2k, must've been twinked with massive spell dmg gear.

My druid hates frost mages. No one else, not even a hunter, can kite me like a frost mage. Especially w the elemental out. It's not just an oom problem. If you keep the druid shifting, s/he never builds up enough energy to use the high damage burst moves. Very frustrating for us.

Nonstop crits with combustion? Try three.

OP, you leave out an important piece of information: "almost 100%"... of what? How many spells did he cast?

I'd say it was a lucky string for him. You can't get your crit rating very high at 42.

That being said, with fire you have +9% chance to crit on all fire spells and another 6% on top of that with scorches and fireblasts with talents. (+3% chance with molten armor but that's definitely a higher level)

With frost you have a +50% chance on rooted targets and a +10% chance (I think) on all targets you've hit 5 times with frost spells. You also can have a ... 15?% chance to root a target with any spell that chills.

Arcane mages I believe have a +10% chance to crit with all spells.

Then there are buffs like +3% chance from shammy's totem of wrath (but that's also higher level). +5% chance if a moonkin's around (my little critmuffins).

Even considering all that, a mage doing "near 100%" crits out of a non-trivial number of casts is mostly lust lucky. Stick a moonkin and a shammy in a group with me and my scorches/fireblasts have a 49% chance to crit. That's far from 100% and I'm 70 :)
