Pre Kara GearFollow

I just obtained my Masters Key and i want to try raiding Kara but b4 i do, i don't want to let the team down by not being able to reach their DPS expectation, therefore i would like anyone to tell me what items i should get, what build i should use. ATM I'm Aiming to get 2 S1 items and 3 vindicate items. Please tell me if i should get any other items. I checked other forums for min stats for kara:
* 7,000 health
* 1,400 attack power
* 150 hit rating
* 20% crit chance
* Pair of 71 DPS weapons
Can you please help me find what items i should get to meet those stats.

Get the appropriate S1 weapons to go with your spec and you'll be set for heroics and Kara.

you could gear yourself past Kara if you run heroics. Gear up on the boots, bracers, gloves, back, pants, and neck. all of those items are better than Kara gear. Then you will be more than Kara ready, and Farm Kara ready. run BG's get S1 oh/mh. and you are looking like a decent rogue. With that gear you should have no prob getting into a guild that does current content, and have a chance at some phat T5.

also PVP gear may be better than some blue items but its not the best for PVE. Veng. Glad. gear is better than most T4 (bonus withheld) but you need to arena to get it.

Yes, work at the S1 weps, but..

I'm surprised no-one's mentioned the crafted Fel Leather set, so get your LW skilled up! Max it out and go for the epic crafted set later.

3 pieces: gloves, boots, legs (with Cobrascale Armor) - socket with +hit and +ag/+AP and fill out sta (as well as a nice AP boost) by getting belt, bracers and S1 chest from BG's.

You already have Helm of the Claw from SV quest, which completely beats the 2nd sight helm and even the S1 when properly socketed - add Glyph of Ferocity from CE rep to boost AP and +hit.

Shoulders: S1 as you already have

Necklace: you have a good one already

Ranged: Mama's Insurance (solo quest reward in Netherstorm) beats Felsteel Whisper Knives, so save your gold buying any.

Neck, Rings - various decent items on AH or as rep rewards

Back: Cloak of The Craft, AH

The only 'hard work' would be 2 excellent trinkets: Hourglass of the Unraveller (BM drop) and Abacus of Violent Odds (Mech drop)


Save some honor for the +20AP gem from BG

I'd suggest a respec to Combat Swords to maximise raid dps too.

It's worth investing the money and time to put the best enchants/gems on all these, to really get the best start in Kara.

As a side note, from a Kara tank perspective, don't go for excess PvP gear because your crit-heavy damage will be a real aggro generator. Keep it smooth and deadly ;)

The OP was asking about Kara gear - as far as Handgrips go for solo/pvp, yes they beat Fel, but for PvE raiding the Fels win out in terms of pure DPS potential (http://shadowpanther.net/armor-max.htm)

..also, the guy wants to jump into Kara quite fast, so the crafted set is much easier to obtain than running BM several times a day for however long it takes the get them to drop *and* win the roll, when he could be putting the time into BG's
