Holy Speced.... Stats to work onFollow

#1 Jan 14 2008 at 9:42 PM Rating: Decent
So I decided to start up a Pally. My 1st 11 Point sent into Protection. And now i'm going to putting the rest into Holy. I've heard so many different ways of doing up a Pally. And I want a healing one. So, i know to work Stam and Intel. Would doing a little bit of strength be alright too? Also, since i'm going Holy, should I use 2h or 1h with shield?

Don't be a smartass. Smiley: motz

Also, don't level holy. Trust me on this. I did it. It was painful.

Go look at the FAQ. It lists many options for healing builds, along with everything else you need to know.

The FAQ is great, but doesn't really answer his question. Like most FAQs, it covers talent builds at level 70. He's level 20! I felt somewhat lost with talent points until I hit level 35 or so. My tree was an absolute mess, with choices made based on 'that looks pretty good, oh so does that!' I had a few points here, a few points there, but there was no cohesive plan at that point. Ultimately I read enough things about the different talents where I was able to figure out what I wanted and respecced

That said, if you look at the different builds suggested in the FAQ and think about what you want down the road, it will help you choose how to progress moving forward. If you're looking to go holy, your next five points should definitely go into Divine Intellect. The five points after that should go into the next tier of the holy tree (can't remember what's there at the moment).

At level 20, I think the choice of weapon is not yet super-important. If you've sunk points into Redoubt, however, then those points are wasted if you're using a 1 H.

I thought the FAQ works just fine for leveling. It shows you the target build, and you place points into it working your way down the trees.

For example, if he wants to spec Holy, and is targeting the standard Instance/Raid Healing build in the FAQ, then just start placing points in the talents shown. It's pretty straight forward.

I assume the OPs first 11 points went toward BoK. If you want to heal, then start down the Holy tree. Pick the talents shown in the FAQ, and you'll do just fine.

No reason to have a mess for talents if you know where you are going with a build. Doesn't matter what level you are.

Edit - typos

I have talent progressions for Ret and for Prot leveling in the FAQ. I didn't include a holy leveling progression because

a) it sucks and
b) it's not very difficult to figure out. Grab an end-game Holy build and start moving down it.

I assume you meant 2 H there? Seeing as how a talent that increases your chance to block has no use when you're using a 2 hander and therefore cannot block...

Lvling in holy is slow and difficult, but if you really want to do it, just grab an end-game build and work your way down. If this is your main, I suggest going ret until lvl 40, respecc to prot. You can stay at prot at end game if you want to tank, or switch to holy like 95% of lvl 70 pallies. Good luck!

I love to heal, so lvling fast or slow. It don't matter to me, since i've got my Shaman as my main healer. I'm only doing this Pally for fun. But getting my question asked, no one gave me a straight answer for if I use use a 2H or a 1H and shield.

1H + Shield for groups. Extra armor from shield is nice in case you get hit.

whatever you want for solo. I use a 2H when I solo - kills mobs a bit faster. Hopefully you already have Verigan's Fist (a nice 2H).
