I was asked, as a level 32 priest, to heal RFD. They said my being low level was fine. I get in the group and realise its full... and no tank. So I said "Whos tanking?" a LOT of ho-huming by the shammy leader was done and he said he'd tank.. as a 33. I said no, a leather wearer and a 33 tanking RFD is just asking for it. More ho-humming as the leader wondered what to do (ahem politely ask someone to leave ahem). Finally someone made the smart comment of "Well we got a full group so... Shammy can tank." I said, "Well, now you don't have a full group" and left the party.

Few seconds later got a tell from the rogue in the group about how much I probably suck and that I am a noob.

Was it wrong to leave the party? I know sometimes bad warriors can take a beating but a leather wearer with no taunts or hate abilities? Dead Priest, Dead party. I usually go along with differant things but I'm adamant on having a tank with a shield (or claws :) )

Oh god in my opinion you were so right to leave. They should have been looking for a tank, not a healer in the first place.

I would have left and immediately started my own group, hopefully grabbing any available tanks. :)

Like most of us I've seen many odd groups: shammys tanking and even rogues tanking. But all these groups had one thing in common: the designated tank was always on the high bracket for the instance we were running. Lets say a 40+ in that case (RFD). A well played group can do fine in these conditions, (in pre-OT instances).

As for your situation, a 33 shammy wouldn't have make it. But I would have been curious to try it...

You know, it is possible to have fun in this game before level 70 :P

Not everyone has aspirations of being an UBER end-game healbot, like you apparently...

Your right i do like leveling alts and doing random stuff in the game. Though the best way to refrain form getting into bad groups is o hit the level cap and get into a good guild that will cater to your needs via, reg/heroics, and raids.

Sorry for being an *** ;)

Exactly here. I've had a shaman tank ZF completely fine.

Being one of the most wanted classes in the game has its advantages.

Use them! Smiley: wink

Just saw this post while roaming the forums. This is what is known as a sham-tard, which is as extremely hard to say as they are to deal with. You were right. A shaman can single target tank 1 mob (especially a 33 in RFD), but thats about it unless there is stuff I don't know about. Though I would have laughed at him before I left.

I have no problems taking on more than one mob on my shammy alt... maybe it's just me.

As for the OP, I would have left as well. There was no reason for that rogue to be rude. Not your fault they're being stupid

Thanks guys :)

I don't mind trying out things, like shammy tanks (I had a shammy tank rfc once)
but I had just gone through an rfd run on my pally a week or more ago and had a flashback to the escort/protect quest. I wouldn't have minded a 36+ Shammy tanking with some good tanking gear, but this guy had DPS gear and didn't even have a shield >.<. Thanks for raising my spirits ^^!

Having a shammy tank in the instance at 33 could be dealt with if other conditions were right though shammy aggro is almost only based on DPS so multi-target tanking without being over-level for the instance is tough. The issue for me is having both a 33 shammy tank and a 32 healer in RFD is a recipe for multiple wipes. Unless you had the hours and gold to waste on that probably doomed experiment then your choice IMHO was exactly correct.

The rogue has an easy escape from death due to wipe in vanish. You don't. Ignore him.
