As Gaudion said, the new water shield is God.

However, I'm still in the silly habit of refreshing my water shield every time I have a free GCD...am I going crazy? I feel the need to push my WS hotkey allll the time!

Also, it looks cool.

Anyone else doing the same idiotic thing?

I actually set it to my side mouse key and I'm always refreshing it in PvP when I'm not doing something else, also do the same thing when I'm out farming or doing dailies.

Get smartbuff & set it to remind you to rebuff every 600 seconds or whenever it expires. The new water shield is indeed godsend.

You think you got problems?
I am doing the same with Lightning Shield. As enhancement I love the extra damage of combining this with Stormstrike. Brilliant damage per mana point.
Trouble is, everyone else thinks I'm bonkers...

I have Shaman Friend for that: it'll remind you when you're missing an elemental shield, among other things.

As for annoying (albiet self-induced), I recently discovered that I could get Healing Wave rank 1 to cost 0 mana... and have been spamming it on the raid during downtime, for no good reason. In case you were wondering, it's impossible to keep Healing Way up on 25 people at the same time without help.

I refresh WS as much as possible, trouble is I forget on boss fights, the global cooldown and what not, which aint bad if i dont get hit.

But look at it this say, is it really that bad, it cost no mana, it gives you mana, and you get mana when you get hit.

I love the new WS, if you are being attacked it gives you like 800 probably before you have to refresh it, its amazing.

I seriously think this new water shield is overpowered, and I'm a resto shaman lol. With water shield and water spring totem, that's about 100mp5 right there. 2 spells granting 100mp5. And with the pally buff it's even more. I thought the first water shield was lame, I thought the 2nd one was fantastic, and now I consider the latest improvement overpowered. Finally something that I consider overpowered in shamans! haha =P
Now if they could just let earth shield be un-dispellable... >=P

I remember when we were raiding Kara the other night and we took Illhoof down after several attempts, without the new improved water shield it would've taken even more wipes, it was far easier to retain my mana with this godly, GODLY 50mp5 spell. And the best thing is, even though it's dispellable it costs no mana to put back up, so when people dispel it it's at their loss =)

water shield!!!!!.... it really makes sense... if water shield were truely OP it would...

Let us be able to create primal water for free.

Drink like a mage but at no mana cost.

Serve as a free flying mount.

Silence fire mages completely, or until they go home and dry their robes out.

i like to "make it rain" with my water shield, and i used it and combo'd gift of the naaru with magma totem and heroism for the new years fireworks spectacular we put on in shattrath, hell even the horde joined in.

I don't think it's overpowered. I still go through mana like crazy if I'm forced to spam healing wave like I have been lately. Continuous casting just burns through mana like crazy. We need it to keep up with priests % of spirit giving mana back during casting. The priest in my guild almost never seems to run out of mana on kara runs, where I rely on mana pots. I know I need more int gear, but that buys me maybe one or two more healing waves.

I don't want bliz to think it's op.

I think just the Totem of the Maelstrom by itself works for that. I can't wait for it to drop in SSC; we only just started it, though, so I won't be too hopeful. =P

Can someone explain to me what the difference between the old and new Water Shield is? From what I've gathered the new version regenerates mana not just when you discharge a globe, but also for just having the shield up and running, right?

So it's a mp5 buff for PvE?

Yep, in the old one it lasted for 60 seconds. at the end, you get all the globes remaining as instant mana. In this new one, it lasts for 10 mins and gives you 45 mana/5 secs. But however, at the end, if you still have globes left, you dont get the instant mana.

The amount of MP regained by Water Shield didn't change at all from 2.3 to 2.3.2. The difference was in how the MP was regained. Previously, assuming no globes were triggerted by damage, we received a lump some of MP back every 60 seconds when the globes expired. Right now, we receive the exact same amount of mana over a ten-minutes period that we would if we cast 2.3 Water Shield ten times successively, just in five-second increments instead of 60-second increments.

2.3 WS x 10 over 00:10:00 = 2.3.2 WS x 1 over 00:10:00.

The benefit here is mainly that we're required to cast Water Shield 1/10 as often, statistically speaking. It's easier to keep up between and during fights, reducing the margin for human error as well as saving us from a GCD eating into our cast rotations every 60 seconds.

It's not 45mp5, it's 50mp5.

Also Mazra, like Gaudion said, it lasts 10 minutes and grants 50mp5.

It's basically a better version of BoW (not GBoW, just BoW), but only self-cast.

Okay, that cleared things up a bit. Thanks.

Looking forward to getting it. Smiley: smile

Yeah, it's nice, I just wish that it didn't pop the globes when you got hit. I'd rather have my 43mp5 (which puts me at 47mp5) instead of pops of 170 3 times during a fight...of course I'm enhancement, so I try to keep my mana use down, but the constant mp5 seems better to me.

Well, you get both; the constant 50mp5, and the +mana from the globes expending. It's more mana this way, actually. Get a mod like ShamanFriend that tells you when Water Shield fades. Also, since you're enhance, it will tell you when your WF is on CD so you don't SS during the CD (if you worry about that, min/max-ing your DPS).

Rank 1 is 25 mana and the totem reduces it by 24, so you still need Tidal Focus (which most restos have anyway). The totem drops off trash, so you have a chance to get it even on learning nights. Best of luck to you.

Yeah, I totally forgot about that; I sort of assumed if you're spamming Rank 1 HW on the tank then you're gonna be Resto. =P
