Aldor vs ScryerFollow

I hate to be the newb who asks this, but which faction is better for hunters? I've been poring over the WoWWiki page, Comparison of Aldor and Scryer rewards, but I've been unable to come to a definite decision.

Weapons-wise, there's nothing that screams, "THIS IS A HUNTER WEAPON!" (all joking aside, of course). Aldor have Vindicator's Brand, while Scryer has Retainer's Blade. The Aldor have Lightwarden's Band, while Scryer has Retainer's Leggings. As for the inscriptions, the Aldor ones focus on +atk, and the Scryer's on +crit. My hunter's not a crafter, so that's not a factor.

Aldor seems like it might be the best, but I'm not certain, as the Scryers have some nice stuff too. Anyone have input? Suggestions?

I personally chose the scryers for the convenience of having the master enchanter right there, and before I had my flying mount, it completely sucked to fall off the aldor rise.

Every time I look back at my decision, I still think "Wow, it really didn't matter." I have my flying mount now, so I'll never accidentally fall again. The Enchanting trainer doesn't have any more forumulas for me. The Lightwarden's Band isn't really that great for raiding, since it doesn't have Hit on it. I never wore the Retainer's Leggings. And neither of those "Epic" weapons are that great for hunters.

The only thing I'd say about either one is I get Marks of Sargeras EVERYWHERE, but I have to go out of my way to farm Scryer rep. But the Scyer's Tabbard is so much cooler.

Scryer= crit.
Aldor= AP.

All boils down to... what do YOU want. =D hope that helps. BTW I chose crit.

My hunter went Aldor. My warlock (enchanter) went Scryer for those same reasons. I agree it largely does not matter.

Well, the only game mechanic I can think of that is impacted is that +crit can be cancelled out by resillience gear. So Aldor might be better Arena PvP than Scryer. Other than that, I can't think of anything game mechanic wise as an advantage to either.

Funny that you say that... most of the articles I've found say that Scryer is a bit better for PvP, since they have more STA overall on their rewards.

I chose aldor because the Scryers are evil horde. Smiley: lol

They're fairly close, pick whichever side you like more.

Yeah choosing between aldors and scryers boils down to two things. Your profession, and the shoulder enchant.

The gear you can buy from them is nice, but easily replaceable and interchangable with other instance gear.

Professions aside, as someone already said, for hunters it comes down to:

Aldor: Attack Power
Scryers: Crit

Aldor ring is one of the best pre-raid rings imo, beside that.... it really doesnt matter all that much.
So i picked aldor......

Oh, and does anyone know what the guy is for who is next to the other salesman in the aldor bank but who wants you to be exalted with sha'tar, CE and Aldor?
Cause i'm only halway through revered with aldor...

I started working on rep just for this guy. Bugs the hell out of me. I'm exalted with Aldor, nearly halfway through revered with Sha'tar, and about 1/3 of the way through revered with CE. I've been trying to get some runs going but damn my server sucks.

I think it would all depend on which Inn is closest to the Bank, Auction House and Flight Master.

Hadn't noticed any difference there, but then I guess it would about balance out for PvP.

I guess it depends on how many Arena players are on the server you are on. If you run into someone fully specc'd out in resillience and you are +crit specc'd, you're screwed no matter how much STA you have. If you are +AGIL or +AP specc'd you still do good damage even if you don't crit. Thus my resoning for feeling Aldor would be better PvP. But if few PvPers have Resillience gear, then +crit would be just fine. Which is why I specified Arena PvP, because apparently few BG PvPers have Resillience gear.

- Shoulder enchant - would you rather have crit or attack power on your shoulders until you hit exalted?
- Professions - if you're a JC, check the recipes; if not, it won't matter much at all.
- Easy 70 gear - Aldor has a good ring once you first hit 70, but keep in mind any gear you get can be replaced in 5-mans or heroics relatively easily.
- Blood elves and draenei - start out as friendly with their faction and Unfriendly with the opposite. That makes the choice a lot easier.
And the one most people forget, the price of rep items - if you're going to get exalted, which is cheaper, Aldor's Fel Armaments, or Scryer's Arcane Tomes? On my server, at least, the FelArms go for 3-7g cheaper than Tomes, which can add up quickly when you're buying 30 items to hit exalted.

When you're exalted with all three, you can buy Shattrath Flask of Relentless Assault (and other flasks) that only work in T5 and T6 raid instances using Mark of the Illidari which drop from trash in T5 and T6 raids.

I'm pretty sure you get a damn nice green axe from an aldor quest in area 52. Not bad if you are working on REP still.

For what it's worth, the Scryer tier is much better laid out, and the ammo guy can actually repair (for some reason the Aldor ammo guy can't) I can go from inn-stables-repair+ammo-FP (which is also closer to Scryer than Aldor) in like 2 mins.

They each have their own bank that is equally close. There is no Auction House in Shatt, and the portals to the capital cities are all in the middle. The only difference is the flight master. Scryers is a bit closer, but you can go right through the middle of the city to get to it quickly if you're aldor.
