tonight I tanked hydross (have nature set) but wiped alot cuz I couldn't hold him off the dps from time to time :(( so my question is if any1 of have tried him and downed him? any good advise to do this boss as tankadin?

Never used a paladin to tank him, always a warrior. Problem is without wings or throwing your shield paladin has a problem with initial aggro. Druids and warriors have an easier time picking it up. You could try more spell damage and maybe threat to gloves enchant I guess. Otherwise I don't really have any suggestions, as the guilds I've been in have never wanted to try.

EDIT: For the nature phase TPS on the boss is way more important than TPS during frost. Sometimes you'll barely get any DPS time during the frost phase since you can't frost nova, and you have to make up for it in the nature phase. That means everyone is going to be blowing cooldowns, trinkets, possibly destruction/haste potions, everything they have. So you have to have above normal TPS during that phase.

Tanks communicate effectively over vent about when they are going to transition. The more 'humming and hawing' you do the more likely you are to mess up.

Call stoppage to HOTS/DOTS at the debuff before the one you switch at. (or somewhere around there). Full DPS stop as soon as tanks state they are doing to switch. DPS doesnt touch hydross till its called, not that is should be long. No big monster heals on transitions, in fact we let our Pally healers handle it for the most part since they generate only 1/4 aggro from heals.

As a healer I stand on the side that we want him on. When tanks go to transition I step over to the other side of the line. That way if by some fluke I pull aggro with a bad heal he won't cross back over and spawn more adds and wipe the raid.

Make sure DPS is aware of DPS stops at transition and calls to resume, also how to handle the adds. If it becomes a problems start calling it out, that should solve the problem unless you have some completely scrub dps who can't handle simple transition fights. If you do have a few of those you need to sit down and either fix their gameplay or bump them out of the raid and recruit replacements because you will see transition fights again and again at Leo, even Kael etc.

Also, agree with Dilbrt. Always seen it done with Wars, for the reasons he stated. I am sure a pally could do it but it would be at a handicap which is never a good thing especially when you are new to the content and trying to progress.

We had a Protadin tryout we needed to attune in SSC the other day, and he did the adds. He got them by dropping a Consecrate, then spam-healing a Warlock who lifetapped down to 40% before the phase transition. It worked pretty well, actually.

EDIT: Oh, MTing Hydross? That's a bad idea for a Protadin.

We use a Prot pally for those adds as well, in fact I love having a pocket prot for that instance. Sure they can be sidestepped but so many little encounters they make the easier if you have them. But yeah we don't let him MT anything, the few times we have it has been some hard healing.

He is not bad for gear either for where we are at.
