I've just started doingBG's to get me some better gear and i was looking at the weapons available, and the fists caught my eye, now i've never seen anyone use any,
the ones i saw do a little more damage than the swords/maces, but are they any good? has anyone tried them?

I'm currently using fist weapons on Sinuous, though that's due to unusual drops. I intend to go daggers or maces with him soon. Read up over at WoW Wiki for a break down of the advantages and disadvantages for each type of weapon.

Wowwiki for anything outside of basics is at best a misleading source of information. Exception being Macro mechanics and to some degree Lore.

And @OP:

Fists no one really used because of the lack of Fists, most people can't even list 5 Fists they can readily obtain. In terms of DPS and assuming Combat spec, they are on par with Swords for the most part.

If you can get good Fists, use them and spec Fist Specialization. Chances are though, you'll be using Swords or Daggers for PvE and Maces for PvP.

I'm using fists and I think they're AWESOME! They have very high damage and instead of the 5% extra hit that you get with swords, you get 5% more crit. I'm combat/assassination right now and I do great in raids. Grind some honor and get the S1 fists. They look badass. =P

No.

Fist Specialization will never do more damage than swords in PvP due to resilience. They will do (slightly) more damage than maces, but the added control and utility of the mace stun will far outweigh any gain in crit that you get from fists.

Season one MH and OH, the two from Sha'tar instances (Reflex Blades and <brain fart>, the two from the vendor in Stormspire, and the one from the Ring of Blood chain.

There's seven. Smiley: tongue

I think he meant to say that they have more damage output rather than saying they DO more damage in pvp. Such as the S1 swords (not accurate) for ex. doing 198-275 damage and the S1 fists doing 200-309.

Any high-school-level math dropout can tell you that the difference in range on those two is meaningless since they have nearly identical averages.

For raiding, the swords is about tied with fist mainhand (S3, talon from Al'ar, ZA drop) and a sword offhand, with both weapon specs. This is because offhand swordspec procs give mainhand hits, and it's apparently the offhand sword that has the majority of procs. So you get almost full benefit of swordspec, but with an extra 5% crit, at the loss of a bit of poison damage.
Highest-damage rogue in my guild is sticking with mace/sword, for the stuns on various fights, at least until we get Talon of Azshara to drop, which likewise is just below swords or fist/sword for damage but with all those nice stuns on various trash/adds.

For PvP, maces is best, again for all the stuns, though swords for raw damage or Mutilate with specific partners (spriest, who should always be targeted first, leaving few/no positioning issues) can be good too iirc.
