ok, so if i decide to equip duel swords or maces....am i still able to perform all the stealth attacks like sap and ambush?

sap yes, ambush no. read the tool tips. they will tell you if you have to have a dagger equiped

thanks. yeah, i've read the tooltips...that was why i was wondering if you strictly had to have daggers....or if the text was trivial.

I believe you just need a dagger in the main hand for ambush/backstab,

Yes you are correct to use ambush or backstab all you need is a dagger equiped in your main hand.
