Getting close to 70.Follow

#1 Jan 14 2008 at 4:47 AM Rating: Decent
Hi, my holy priest alt is finally getting close to 70. and i have a few questions about gear.

At the momment i have Herbalism and alchemy, is it worth dropping one to pick up tailoring for the primal mooncloth set? or are there good enough alternatives before raids?

I do mostly do instances and eventually raid on him.

What do you think?

I was in a similar situation not too long ago. I too had alch/herb leveling all the way to 70, and used the Hallowed set for the longest time before I decided to drop alch for talioring. Hallowed isnt bad but the PMC set is amazing, better than tier 4 drops. Also you might look into the Whitemend hood and pants, also amazing items for not having to get 25 people to jump through hoops to kill some boss.

So in my opinion, I would drop one for tailoring. Which one is up to you, I kept herbs for the money issue, Herbs sell great on my server. Not to mention that you can use the fel lotus you find to get an guildie to make flasks for you. Alch is not a bad option either if you have gotten some discoveries. Just my two cents :)

Hey, thanks for the advice, ill take up tailoring. But does anyone have any preferences to which can make more money? herbalism or alchemy with master transmute?.

Thanks again

Herbalism is a better money maker, by far, unless you get insanely lucky on transmute procs. The only thing you miss out on by dropping alchemy is the Stone and the special pots, neither of which are that important; just get a friend to make pots/flasks/transmutes.

And yes, definitely get PMM. It'll last well into SSC/TK.

If you want to just do instances/heroics stick with what you have, it is far more profitable than tailoring.

If you are actually in a potential raiding situation (guild is ready and an open priest slot) you need to drop at least one of those professions for tailoring.

Now for which one? IMO that depends on one major question and that is: "Is this your only 60+ toon"?

If the answer is yes I'd suggest (painfully) dropping alch. Like lsfreak said, you'll miss out on the alchemist stone which is a great item for priests and if you are pot specced you'll miss being able to get some nice extra pots. However, alchemy tends to be less profitable than herbalism and once you make the switch to holy your income will take a hit.

If it isn't and you have another toon who can make money, then keep alch. Raid wise it is much more useful with the alchemist stone and free pots if you are pot specced.
